NY Times Op-Ed: ‘Mate With Short People To Stop Climate Change’<\/span><\/p>\n

A New York Times op-ed suggests that everyone should \u201cmate with shorter people\u201d in order to save the planet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Yes, really.<\/p>\n

Author Mara Altman,\u00a0claims<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cWhen you mate with shorter people, you\u2019re potentially saving the planet by shrinking the needs of subsequent generations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLowering the height minimum for prospective partners on your dating profile is a step toward a greener planet,\u201d she adds in the piece.<\/p>\n

\n

“He\u2019s even restricted dairy from his sons\u2019 diets and only allows them minimal sugar in an attempt to limit their growth, saving them from the ills of height.”<\/p>\n

Altman argues that shorter people are \u201cinherent conservationists, which is more crucial than ever in this world of eight billion,\u201d adding that \u201cif we kept our proportions the same but were just 10 percent shorter in America alone, we would save 87 million tons of food per year (not to mention trillions of gallons of water, quadrillions of B.T.U.s of energy and millions of tons of trash).\u201d<\/p>\n

Altman continues, \u201cShort people don\u2019t just save resources, but as resources become scarcer because of the earth\u2019s growing population and global warming, they may also be best suited for long-term survival (and not just because more of us will be able to jam into spaceships when we are forced off this planet we wrecked).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur success as individuals does not depend on beating up other people or animals. Even if it did, in an era of guns and drones, being tall now just makes you a bigger target,\u201d Altman adds, concluding \u201cI want my children\u2019s children to know the value of short.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
