The problem with universities overwhelmingly controlled by faculty on the left is that there are few to offer a dose of reality or rationality.<\/p>\n

Left to their own devices, some faculty seem to search for new ways to demonstrate woke priorities. <\/strong><\/p>\n

British universities have long been\u00a0ridiculed for policies<\/a>\u00a0controlling speech or symbols.<\/p>\n

Now,\u00a0The Telegraph is reporting<\/a>\u00a0that British universities are adding trigger warnings to Greek and Shakespearean tragedies to protect students from being triggered by tragedy. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Indeed, there are now warnings on other classics for everything from \u201cableism\u201d to \u201cdepictions of rural life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

One such warning\u00a0stated, \u201cTragedy is a genre obsessed with violence and suffering, often of a sexual or graphic kind, and so some of the content might be triggering for some students.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The University of Aberdeen in Scotland put a trigger warning on \u201cBeowulf\u201d due to its depictions of \u201canimal cruelty\u201d and \u201cableism.\u201d Beowulf had to fear \u201ca creature of darkness, exiled from happiness and accursed of God, the destroyer and devourer of our human kind.\u201d However, Aberdeen students have the added fear that they may run across depictions from 975 which \u201cplace value on people\u2019s bodies and minds based on societally constructed ideas of normality, intelligence, excellence, desirability, and productivity.\u201d [Notably, even that definition is\u00a0preceded at Stanford<\/a>\u00a0by a trigger warning that \u201cContent warning<\/em>: The following page contains content including the historical context of ableism. It may be disturbing to those with a history of institutionalization or other negative experiences in the medical world concerning their specific disabilities.\u201d]<\/p>\n

Even the death of an albatross in \u201cRime of the Ancient Mariner\u201d required a trigger warning at the University of Greenwich as\u00a0\u201cpotentially upsetting.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is trigger warning imposed by the University of Warwick for Thomas Hardy\u2019s \u201cFar From the Madding Crown\u201d because of its depiction of \u201crural life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, the British are not alone in such warnings. The\u00a0National Archives recently moved to add trigger warnings<\/a>\u00a0to displays on our founders and founding documents.<\/p>\n

Trigger warning: I am about to quote Shakespeare\u2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This all proves the Bard\u2019s point that \u201cNothing routs us but the villainy of our fears<\/a>.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
