No one was injured. The automaker worked with battery supplier SK On to identify the cause and resolution before <a target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/money\/cars\/ford\/2023\/03\/08\/ford-f-150-lightning-production-restart-rouge-rawsonville-workers\/69983666007\/\" rel=\"noopener\">restarting production<\/a>. In this case, one Ford pickup caught fire, and the flames spread to the other two.<\/p>\n<p>The video includes audio that illustrates the gravity of the situation, as reported by CNBC:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not putting this (expletive) out. Look at it,\u201d said one responding officer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>First responders can be heard on video expressing concern about how much water is needed to put out EV fires and whether a special foam would be required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>\u201cThey have to put like a whole (expletive) lake on it to put them out,\u201d the same officer said during the event.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>.oembed-frame {width:100%;height:100%;margin:0;border:0;}<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"presto-h2\">What is the recall on the Ford F-150 Lightning?<\/h2>\n<p>In its letter to federal regulators dated March 15, Ford said the <a target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:8;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/vehicle\/2023\/FORD\/F-150%252520(SUPER%252520CREW)%252520LIGHTNING%252520BEV\/PU%25252FCC\/4WD#recalls\" rel=\"noopener\">reason for the vehicle recall<\/a> was &#8220;High voltage battery pack may short circuit&#8221; and create a fire risk. The fire occurred while the vehicle was charging in a holding lot during a pre-delivery quality check and was caused by an internal short circuit due to a manufacturing defect when cells in the battery were at a <a target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:9;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/static.nhtsa.gov\/odi\/rcl\/2023\/RCLRPT-23V168-8458.PDF\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;high state of charge<\/a>,&#8221; according to documents posted on the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration website.<\/p>\n<p>Ford said in its <a target=\"_blank\" data-i13n=\"cpos:10;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/static.nhtsa.gov\/odi\/rcl\/2023\/RMISC-23V168-6445.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">chronology report<\/a> that engineers determined there was no evidence of a charging fault.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether with SK On, we confirmed the root causes and swiftly implemented quality actions,\u201d Ford said in a statement to CNBC. \u201cThe Rouge Electric Vehicle Center has been back up and running since March 13 and is back to full production and shipping vehicles to customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/aol_usatoday_us_articles_590\/ae7f77e3ab0975dc21f98e785875854d\" alt=\"Images of the February battery fire damage to all-electric Ford F-150 pickup trucks in a Dearborn holding lot. Dan Bartok. A message seeking comment about the incident was left for Dearborn Deputy Fire Chief Laura Ridenour.<\/p>\n<p>Ford spokeswoman Emma Bergg declined to comment to the Free Press on the release of the audio and video, emphasizing: &#8220;This was one single fire. We&#8217;re really proud of the team, and how quickly they responded to handle the situation.&#8221; She confirmed the automaker \u201ctook part in an information-sharing session on how to handle battery fires in summer 2022 with members of the Dearborn fire department.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/aol_usatoday_us_articles_590\/70e6e9d1a7f26b8e5145427fefb6a623\" alt=\"Page 13 of the 20-page Emergency Response Guide written for the Ford F-150 Lightning dated April 2022 has been made available to first responders. Battery fires are not unique to Ford. The automaker did shut down its plant for five weeks to resolve questions involving a Feb. 4, 2023 battery fire in a holding lot in Dearborn.\" data-uuid=\"b366c740-1c7f-3fa2-bf9a-34923048272e\"><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Bergg told the Free Press, part of the USA TODAY Network: &#8220;We have a long history of working closely with emergency workers and first responders on auto safety issues and that continues as we enter the EV era.
