Top US General: Ukraine Should Not Use US Equipment To Attack Russia<\/span><\/p>\n

The top US general reaffirmed that Kiev has long been asked not to use military equipment provided by Washington to conduct attacks against Russian territory<\/strong>,\u00a0according to\u00a0Reuters<\/i><\/a>. This policy is necessary because such attacks could provoke a direct clash between NATO and Russia, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley emphasized while speaking with reporters at the Pentagon on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Milley\u2019s comments came after a neo-Nazi group, which operates as\u00a0part of Kiev\u2019s armed forces<\/a>\u00a0and cooperates with Ukrainian military intelligence, carried out a cross-border raid in Russia. Denis Nikitin is the leader of the Russian Volunteer Corps, which is said to be made up of Russian citizens including some members of the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion who fought, since 2014, for Kiev during the Donbas war. Nikitin\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0his men were\u00a0using US equipment<\/a>, such as two M1224 MaxxPro armored vehicles, also known as MRAPs, during the raid<\/strong>. Members of another militia, the Freedom of Russia Legion, also participated in the assault.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Russian officials<\/a>, the terrorists launched mortar and artillery attacks against civilian infrastructure and residential areas in the Belgorod region on Monday. Ukraine\u2019s military intelligence hints that they were behind the attack, while stopping short of officially taking credit. Though, some documents included in the Discord Leaks suggest that Ukrainian President Zelensky\u2019s regime was planning\u00a0similar operations<\/a>, specifically using these Russian volunteers equipped with “various qualitative types of NATO weapons<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0New York Times<\/i><\/a>, US officials believe Kiev was behind Monday\u2019s raid and the recent attempted\u00a0drone strike on the Kremlin<\/a>, which Moscow believes was an attempt to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin<\/strong>. The officials also believe Kiev is responsible for a series of assassinations and other covert attacks within Russia. Moreover, the deputy head of Ukraine\u2019s main intelligence directorate\u00a0admitted<\/a>\u00a0this week that they are actively attempting to assassinate Putin and other Russian officials.<\/p>\n

Kiev\u2019s position is that the Belgorod raid was carried out independently from Zelensky\u2019s intelligence and military services<\/strong>. But the Freedom of Russia Legion\u2019s special representative, Ilya Ponomarev, said the group\u00a0received Kiev\u2019s “green light”\u00a0<\/a>regarding the attack. Pictures and videos\u00a0posted<\/a>\u00a0by the Russian military have confirmed Nikitin\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is no secret for us that more and more equipment is being delivered to Ukraine\u2019s armed forces,\u201d Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday\u00a0when asked by reporters about the militias\u2019 U.S.-made hardware.<\/a><\/p>\n

Contrarily, Milley refused to say Washington has drawn any firm conclusions yet. \u201cI can\u2019t say with definitive accuracy right this minute to you whether that \u2013 and I saw the same video \u2013 whether that\u2019s U.S. supplied equipment or not, what was the nature of the attack, who did what to whom,\u201d Milley insisted.<\/p>\n

He continued, “\u2026but I can say that we have asked the Ukrainians not to use U.S.-supplied equipment for direct attacks into Russia.” For its part,\u00a0Reuters\u00a0<\/i>stated they were “able to confirm the location of damaged [U.S.-made military hardware such as Humvee military trucks] and surrounding details shown in the video, though could not verify the date it was filmed.”<\/p>\n

Kiev has ostensibly pledged not to use long-range weapons provided by Washington to attack Russia, but leaked documents also show that Zelensky does not intend to keep his word<\/strong>. Earlier this month, the\u00a0Washington Post\u00a0<\/i>reported<\/a>\u00a0that “behind closed doors, Ukraine\u2019s leader has proposed going in a more audacious direction<\/strong> \u2013 occupying Russian villages to gain leverage over Moscow, bombing a pipeline that transfers Russian oil to Hungary, a NATO member, and privately pining for long-range missiles to hit targets inside Russia\u2019s borders, according to classified US intelligence documents detailing his internal communications with top aides and military leaders.”<\/p>\n

However, the Joe Biden administration has now\u00a0greenlit<\/a>\u00a0their European allies\u2019 plans to transfer F-16s to Ukraine. Biden proclaims that he has received Zelensky\u2019s “flat assurance” that the fighter jets will not be used to attack Russia.<\/p>\n

Though, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY)\u00a0told a reporter<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday that he “wouldn\u2019t care if they did,” <\/strong>reflecting the uber\u00a0hawkishness<\/a>\u00a0that has become acceptable within the US Congress. Furnishing Zelensky\u2019s regime with warplanes was long ruled out over fears that it would be perceived by Moscow as the alliance directly entering the war.<\/p>\n

“We see that Western countries are still adhering to the escalation scenario. It involves colossal risks<\/strong> for themselves,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko\u00a0admonished<\/a>\u00a0the alliance after the Western plans to send F-16s to Ukraine became public. When asked about the Russian official\u2019s warning, Biden threatened “it is for them.”<\/p>\n

Milley explained these restrictions are ostensibly implemented in hopes of avoiding a direct war with Russia. \u201cWhy is that? Because we don\u2019t want \u2013 this is a Ukrainian war. It is not a war between the United States and Russia. It\u2019s not a war between NATO and Russia,\u201d Milley said.<\/p>\n

The general\u2019s claims fall flat given the fact that, so far, the US has pledged $113 billion backing Kiev in this proxy war. Washington\u2019s Ukraine policy is explicitly designed to “weaken<\/a>” Russia as Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin made clear last year.<\/p>\n

The White House is shipping\u00a0Bradley armored fighting vehicles<\/a>,\u00a0longer range rockets<\/a>, Patriot missile systems, and\u00a0M1 Abrams tanks<\/a>\u00a0to the battlefield. Concurrently, the CIA is reportedly\u00a0conducting<\/a>\u00a0sabotage\u00a0attacks on Russian infrastructure<\/a>\u00a0and the Pentagon has\u00a0tacitly endorsed<\/a>\u00a0Kiev\u2019s drone strikes hundreds of miles deep inside the Russian mainland. The UK has armed Zelensky\u2019s regime with\u00a0depleted uranium munitions<\/a>, linked to\u00a0cancer and birth defects<\/a>, which are being fired at Russian troops by British tanks. Far exceeding the reach of any weapons system the US has pledged, London has equipped Kiev with\u00a0Storm Shadow missiles<\/a>\u00a0with a range of\u00a0more than 155 miles<\/a>. The missiles can be fired by the MIG-29 warplanes NATO members Slovenia and Poland sent to Ukraine\u00a0earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Beyond the Washington-led bloc\u2019s massive military aid, an\u00a0assortment<\/a>\u00a0of NATO commandos,\u00a0US troops<\/a>,\u00a0CIA, and Special Operations forces<\/a>\u00a0are on the ground in Ukraine as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
