{"id":1381616,"date":"2023-08-01T02:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-01T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1381616"},"modified":"2023-08-01T02:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-08-01T06:00:00","slug":"biden-admin-wants-58-mpg-fuel-efficiency-standard-by-2032","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/biden-admin-wants-58-mpg-fuel-efficiency-standard-by-2032\/1381616\/","title":{"rendered":"Biden Admin Wants 58 MPG Fuel Efficiency Standard By 2032"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Biden Admin Wants 58 MPG Fuel Efficiency Standard By 2032<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>The Biden administration on Friday announced a proposal to require raising fuel economy standards to <strong>58 miles per gallon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/close-up-of-speedometer-and-gas-gauge-royalty-free-image-1585163706.jpg?itok=Y10cFeYR\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The proposal, from the Department of Transportation&#8217;s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), would aim for a respective 2% annual increase for passenger cars, and a 4% increase in light trucks&#8217; Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for 2027 &#8211; 2032 models, and would require 2030 &#8211; 2035 &#8220;heavy-duty pickup trucks and vans&#8221; to boost fuel economy by 10% per year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If finalized as proposed, the updated standards would save Americans hundreds of dollars at the pump,&#8221; reads a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/press-releases\/usdot-proposal-updated-cafe-hdpuv-standards\">NHTSA press release<\/a>. &#8220;all while making America more energy secure and less reliant on foreign oil.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>CAFE requirements are not as stringent as an Environmental Protection Agency proposal<\/strong> in April to cut vehicle tailpipe emissions.
