Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Tries To Scrub Her Lockdown Record<\/span><\/p>\n

It seems that everyone is running from the lockdowns they once supported<\/strong>, and that includes former presidents and governors, and probably mayors too. Apologies would be better so we can at least have an honest accounting rather than an attempt to rewrite the history that everyone knows.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Jack Phillips of\u00a0Epoch Times<\/em>\u00a0alerts readers in his\u00a0article<\/a>\u00a0of August 31, 2023, of Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds\u2019 recent statement on the subject of lockdowns. The\u00a0Iowa State Government\u2019s website<\/a>\u00a0says the following:<\/p>\n

\u201cSince news broke of COVID-19 restrictions being reinstated at some colleges and businesses across the U.S., concerned Iowans have been calling my office asking whether the same could happen here. My answer\u2014not on my watch. In Iowa, government respects the people it serves and fights to protect their rights.\u00a0I rejected the mandates and lockdowns of 2020<\/strong>, and my position has not changed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Governor Reynolds \u201crejected\u201d the mandates and lockdowns of 2020? <\/strong><\/p>\n

She did?<\/p>\n

Her position has remained the same? It has?<\/p>\n

Could it be the Governor has forgotten her \u201corders?\u201d On March 17, 2020<\/strong>, Governor Reynolds issued her first \u201cPublic Health Disaster Emergency<\/a>.\u201d Following her long list of \u201cwhereas\u2019s,\u201d she ordered the following:<\/p>\n

Restaurants and bars: Closed to the \u201cgeneral public\u201d<\/p>\n

Fitness centers\/health clubs, spas, aquatic centers: Closed<\/p>\n

Theaters\/performance centers: Closed<\/p>\n

Casinos\/gaming facilities: Closed<\/p>\n

Churches: Closed<\/p>\n

Social, community, spiritual, religious, recreational, leisure, and sporting gatherings and events of more than 10 people, including but not limited to parades, festivals, conventions, and fundraisers: Prohibited.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Senior citizen and adult daycare centers: Closed<\/p>\n

Salons\/barber shops: Closed<\/p>\n

A few weeks later on April 6, 2020, she doubled down. <\/strong>In\u00a0this second proclamation<\/a>, the Governor extended the timeline and expanded what she now says she \u201crejected.\u201d To add insult, she also formally called on law enforcement to \u201cassist in the enforcement of these \u2018mitigation efforts\u2019.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

To wit:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cTo encourage further social distancing and mitigation efforts, the proclamation orders additional closures effective at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7th until Thursday, April 30th\u201d: (Highlight and underline added)<\/p>\n

Malls\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tobacco or vaping stores<\/p>\n

Toy, gaming, music, instrument, movie, or adult entertainment stores<\/p>\n

Social and fraternal clubs, including those at golf courses<\/p>\n

Bingo halls, bowling alleys, pool halls, arcades, and amusement parks<\/p>\n

Museums, libraries, aquariums, and zoos<\/p>\n

Race tracks and speedway.<\/p>\n

Roller or ice skating rinks and skate parks<\/p>\n

Outdoor or indoor playgrounds or children\u2019s play centers<\/p>\n

Campgrounds<\/p>\n

Should we afford the Governor the benefit of the doubt? That she \u201crejected\u201d \u201cmandates and lockdowns\u201d all the way through Mar 16, 2020? Then changed her mind? Hence, rejecting them before implementing them?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Should we resist the impulse to accrue to the Governor a little bit of gaslighting in her August 30, 2023 statement? Will she insist that businesses she ordered closed and the behaviors she prohibited* \u2013 to be enforced by law enforcement \u2013 weren\u2019t \u201cmandated\u201d \u201clockdowns?\u201d That they were instead \u201cmitigation efforts\u201d as spelled out in her \u201corders?\u201d That all this merely carried the weight of suggestion? This\u2026so that she can now say that she \u201crejected\u201d mandates and lockdowns?\u00a0<\/p>\n

At best \u2013 at best \u2013 this PR stunt strains credulity. Especially when simple searches can recall those pesky things called facts. On the record.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

At worst? At worst, why, some might suggest it describes a woman whose actual status rhymes with \u201cfire.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Maybe the Governor needs a chance to explain herself, including her definition of \u201crejected.\u201d I can just hear her now: \u201cI did reject the lockdowns before I didn\u2019t.\u201d I daresay that would make for some really great reading.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the meantime, some of us who rejected all the unlawful nonsense, who were never fooled by any of these fools, who never cooperated and gave up all \u2013 remain unfooled \u2013 even when the likes of a Kim Reynolds attempts to rewrite history.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I have attached both of Governor Reynolds\u2019 \u201cmitigation effort\u201d orders.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
