The goal was to make Kelley a &#8220;Navy Digital Ambassador&#8221; in a pilot program which ran from October 2022 to March 2023, and was &#8220;designed to explore the digital environment to reach a wide range of potential candidates.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Putin must tremble in fear when he beholds the US Navy&#8217;s new &#8216;digital ambassador&#8217; whose role is to get more recruits. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) from Navy under secretary Erik Raven, <strong>the service confirmed that the Digital Ambassador Pilot program &#8220;will not be continued.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Navy learned lessons from the pilot program that will inform our digital engagement and outreach going forward,&#8221; wrote Raven. &#8220;Our digital outreach efforts will maintain the important distinction between Sailors\u2019 official activities and their personal lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Tuberville \u2014 who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee \u2014 previously sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuberville.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/SecNav-Letter-drag-queen1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> to Admiral Michael M. Gilday, the chief of Naval Operations, in May, demanding to know the identities of\u00a0the officers tasked with funding and promoting drag queen shows aboard naval vessels. <\/strong>The letter was sent the same day the Alabama senator and his Republican colleagues submitted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.budd.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Budd-Letter-to-SecNav-re-Digital-Ambassador-Program.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">separate communique<\/a> to Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro on the branch\u2019s embrace of Daniels and whether Navy leadership is encouraging its \u201cdigital ambassadors\u201d and public affairs personnel to use TikTok \u2014 which the Pentagon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-military-bans-tiktok-over-ties-to-china-11578090613\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">banned<\/a> its members from using on government-issued devices \u2014 \u201con their personal devices\u201d in order to skirt the agency\u2019s prohibition. -The Federalist<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recruitment fail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/us-navy-coming-in-7000-sailors-short-of-2023-recruiting-goal-5492390\"><em>Epoch Times<\/em><\/a> notes, <strong>the Navy expects to fall short of its annual recruiting goal by around 7,000 sailors<\/strong> when the fiscal year ends this month.<\/p>\n<p>At a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Thursday, acting Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti announced that the service is on track to miss its fiscal year 2023 goal\u2014ending Sept. 30\u2014to bring in 37,700 active duty enlisted sailors. The service also aimed to recruit 2,528 active duty officers, 8,200 reserve enlisted sailors, and 1,940 reserve officers.<\/p>\n<p>Adm. Franchetti&#8217;s latest recruiting projection is worse than the 6,000-recruit miss she <a href=\"https:\/\/news.usni.org\/2023\/04\/20\/vcno-navy-set-to-miss-fy-2023-recruiting-goals-for-enlisted-sailors-by-nearly-16\">predicted<\/a> in April, <strong>but not the worst outcome Navy officials have considered this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>We started out the year thinking we\u2019d be about 13,000 short<\/strong>,\u201d Adm. Franchetti <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2023\/09\/14\/navy-will-miss-recruiting-goals-by-7000-sailors-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> Senators on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>We\u2019re going to be about 7,000 short. We\u2019re doing better month by month than we were last year.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NTD News reached out to the Navy for additional comment about its recruiting efforts this year but did not receive a response by the time this article was published.<\/p>\n<p>The Navy brought out several new measures to drive recruiting this year, including raising the maximum enlistment bonus to $75,000 and raising the maximum enlistment age to 41 years old.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The service also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.military.com\/daily-news\/2022\/12\/05\/navy-accept-recruits-lowest-test-scores-recruiting-goal-grows.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changed<\/a> its standards to allow recruiters to take candidates who scored in the 10th to 30th percentile on the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT). The revised standards permitted recruiters to fill around 20 percent of their fiscal year 2023 quota with candidates who scored in the 10th to 30th percentile on the AFQT, dubbed &#8220;Category IV&#8221; candidates.<\/p>\n<h2>Military Recruiting Woes Stretch Into Second Year<\/h2>\n<p>The Navy is not the only military service expecting to fall short of its recruiting quotas for the year.
