The same agency, which has been strongly advocating for a faster energy transition for years, had predicted just this year that 2019 was the peak demand for gasoline globally.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Back in June, in its Oil 2023 annual report, the IEA\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/reports\/oil-2023\/executive-summary\">said<\/a>\u00a0that <em><strong>\u201cGrowth is set to reverse after 2023 for gasoline and after 2026 for transport fuels overall.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cGasoline demand will be disproportionately impacted as EVs progressively replace vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICE),\u201d the IEA\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iea.blob.core.windows.net\/assets\/6ff5beb7-a9f9-489f-9d71-fd221b88c66e\/Oil2023.pdf\">said<\/a>, adding that:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis means that the fuel is likely to exhibit the earliest and most pronounced peak in demand.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>And it also said that \u201cUsage will never return to 2019 levels and the post- pandemic peak could come as early as 2023.
