Demand for new technology in cars is high, <strong>but overall auto demand is slowing. Other companies that\u00a0supply chips\u00a0to the auto industry also dropped.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/mbly.jpg?itok=6oIE07i3\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nvidia and the fervor around artificial intelligence helped drive the best year for Philadelphia Semiconductor index since 2009, papering over\u00a0slowdowns\u00a0in areas such as industrial and networking chips. AI remains an area of growth potential: last month\u00a0Broadcom\u00a0said it expects AI growth to help counter a sales slowdown. <strong>But even the\u00a0AI hype\u00a0may have peaked. Nvidia was the best S&amp;P 500 performer last year by far but its\u00a0blowout earnings beat\u00a0in November wasn\u2019t enough to captivate traders.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Semiconductors and semiconductor equipment are projected to post the biggest y\/y earnings-per-share growth of the three info tech subsectors in 4Q and 1Q24, according to\u00a0Bloomberg Intelligence\u00a0data.
