{"id":1449879,"date":"2024-01-10T11:55:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T16:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1449879"},"modified":"2024-01-10T11:55:00","modified_gmt":"2024-01-10T16:55:00","slug":"where-boeings-737-max-9-is-in-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/where-boeings-737-max-9-is-in-operation\/1449879\/","title":{"rendered":"Where Boeing&#8217;s 737 Max 9 Is In Operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Where Boeing&#8217;s 737 Max 9 Is In Operation<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><strong>On Friday January 5, the &#8216;door plug&#8217;, replacing a possible extra exit in the fuselage of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/3697\/airbus-and-boeing\/\">Boeing<\/a>\u00a0737 Max 9 operated by Alaska Airlines, was ripped off shortly after take-off. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The aircraft was supposed to be flying from Portland, Oregon, to Ontario airport, on the outskirts of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, there were no casualties and the plane made a successful emergency landing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A few days later, Alaska Airlines and United Airlines, the latter of which operates the world&#8217;s largest fleet of the aircraft, announced that they had discovered loose bolts on several of their planes of the same model. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/31525\/airlines-operating-boeing-737-max-9\/\">As Statista&#8217;s Martin Armstrong notes,<\/a> these issues add to a growing list of damaging incidents and issues for the American manufacturer. Of particular significance, accidents in October 2018 in Indonesia and March 2019 in Ethiopia, caused by a faulty in-flight stabilization system, resulted in the deaths of almost 350 people. The two aircraft in question were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/19715\/boeing-737-max-orders\/\">Boeing 737 Max, albeit the Max 8 variant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As the infographic below shows, <strong>alongside Alaska and United, 7 other airlines are currently known to operate the 737 Max 9, with over 200 aircraft in operation<\/strong> as of January 2024 according to the travel industry news site,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/skift.com\/2024\/01\/08\/a-breakdown-of-carriers-that-operate-the-boing-737-max-9\/\">Skift<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/31525\/airlines-operating-boeing-737-max-9\/\" title=\"Infographic: Where Boeing's 737 Max 9 Is in Operation | Statista\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>You will find more infographics at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chartoftheday\/\">Statista<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an &#8216;Emergency Airworthiness Directive&#8217; for all owners and operators of 737 Max 9 aircraft on January 6.<\/p>\n<p>In response, Boeing stated in a press release:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Safety is our top priority and we deeply regret the impact this event has had on our customers and their passengers. We agree with and fully support the FAA&#8217;s decision to require immediate inspections of 737-9 airplanes with the same configuration as the affected airplane&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;Not sure that can be attributable to just one line.
