Others have better work or retirement support for older populations, or are struggling to attract families.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualcapitalist.com\/mapping-the-u-s-median-age-by-state\/\">Visual Capitalist&#8217;s Nick Routley maps <\/a>the median age of each U.S. state using the latest 2022 data available from the U.S. Census Bureau as compiled by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statsamerica.org\/sip\/rank_list.aspx?rank_label=pop46\">StatsAmerica<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/MedianAge_Site-e1706216762867.jpg?itok=PSVZE7tJ\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Ranking The Oldest U.S. States by Median Age<\/h2>\n<p>Overall,\u00a0<strong>Maine<\/strong>\u00a0had the highest median age by state in 2022 at 45 years old. Utah\u2019s is closer in line to the global average, which was 31 years of age in 2020 according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_countries_by_median_age#UN_figures\">UN estimates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zooming in, most states see significant differences at the county level, with cities, colleges, and natural resource sites generally lowering the median age in a county.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the energy industry attracted a significant number of younger workers to North Dakota, Texas, and Alaska.
