{"id":1454868,"date":"2024-02-01T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-02T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1454868"},"modified":"2024-02-01T23:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T04:00:00","slug":"trump-prosecutor-avoids-tainting-fani-gives-booty-to-estranged-wife-in-last-minute-divorce-settlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/trump-prosecutor-avoids-tainting-fani-gives-booty-to-estranged-wife-in-last-minute-divorce-settlement\/1454868\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Prosecutor Avoids Tainting Fani, Gives Booty To Estranged Wife In Last-Minute Divorce Settlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Trump Prosecutor Avoids Tainting Fani, Gives Booty To Estranged Wife In Last-Minute Divorce Settlement<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>Trump special prosecutor Nathan Wade will avoid testifying about his alleged relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%281497%29.jpg?itok=obF5jUgz\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wade notably <strong>filed for divorce from his stay-at-home wife of 20 years, Jocelyn Wade, <\/strong>on Nov. 2nd, 2021, <strong><em>the day after Fani hired him<\/em><\/strong> as a special prosecutor in the Trump case, from which he earned more than $650,000 in taxpayer dollars &#8211; which he used to take Fani on lavish vacations, according to claims from Trump co-defendant Michael Roman and corroborated by receipts revealed in the divorce case.<\/p>\n<p>Cobb County Superior Court Judge Henry Thompson signed a <strong>temporary settlement in the divorce case on Jan. 30,<\/strong> then canceled a hearing scheduled for Jan. 31 in which Wade was expected to testify about his relationship with Willis.<\/p>\n<p>The two have been accused of being in an &#8220;improper&#8221; relationship, with Trump and other Republicans arguing that the case has been a politically-driven prosecution from the start, meant to derail the former president&#8217;s 2024 reelection bid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fani was also subpoenaed to testify on Jan. 31<\/strong> after she was unsuccessful in quashing it. Judge Thompson rejected her attempt, however the settlement means that she will dodge testimony as well.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Fulton Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has ordered Willis to respond<\/strong> to allegations of having an &#8220;improper&#8221; relationship with Wade by Friday, and a hearing has been scheduled for mid-February.<\/p>\n<p>As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/trump-prosecutor-nathan-wade-settles-divorce-avoids-having-to-testify-about-relationship-with-fani-willis-5577073?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_campaign=ZeroHedge&amp;src_src=partner&amp;src_cmp=ZeroHedge\"><em>Epoch Times<\/em><\/a> reports further, an attorney representing Michael Roman, one of the co-defendants, filed a motion on Jan. 8 to dismiss the Fulton County election interference case, alleging misconduct on the part of Fulton County prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Roman\u2019s attorney, Ashleigh Merchant, alleged in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fultonclerk.org\/DocumentCenter\/View\/3814\/61-MOTION-1-8-24\">100-plus page filing<\/a> that Ms. Willis was engaged in an \u201cimproper, clandestine personal relationship\u201d with Mr. Wade and of \u201cprofiting significantly\u201d from the relationship at the expense of taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/bank-records-show-fulton-county-da-fani-willis-traveled-with-special-prosecutor-during-trump-probe-5569732\">show that<\/a> Mr. Wade paid for Ms. Willis to fly with him to two different cities.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Merchant also accused Ms. Willis of using funds meant for clearing a pandemic-era backlog of cases in Fulton County to pay Mr. Wade a large sum of money.<\/p>\n<p>Documents show Mr. Wade has been paid at a rate of $250 per hour for his involvement in the case, or around $650,000 in total.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Roman is seeking to disqualify Ms. Willis and her office from the election interference case, per his attorney\u2019s Jan. 8 filing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/wade%20stare.JPG?itok=ffV5XP66\"><em>Fulton County special prosecutor Nathan Wade (L) and executive district attorney Daysha Young confer during a hearing in the election interference case against President Trump, at the Fulton County Courthouse in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 1, 2023. (John David Mercer-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Trump has also made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/trump-says-georgia-case-totally-compromised-after-allegations-of-da-fani-williss-improper-romantic-relationship-5561598\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">similar demands<\/a>, saying that both Ms. Willis and the case have been \u201ctotally compromised\u201d and the case against him should be dismissed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors have not yet filed a response to Ms. Merchant\u2019s motion, although they have said they intend to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Fulton County Audit Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/top-auditor-demands-georgia-da-fani-willis-answer-questions-over-allegations-5570540\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has also asked<\/a> Ms. Willis to address the \u201cimproper\u201d relationship allegations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bob Ellis, the Fulton County Commissioner, called on Ms. Willis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/top-auditor-demands-georgia-da-fani-willis-answer-questions-over-allegations-5570540\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a Jan. 21 letter<\/a> to provide explanations, including regarding payments to Mr. Wade, by Feb. 2.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2>Investigation and Articles of Impeachment<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ms. Willis faces an investigation in the Georgia Legislature over alleged misconduct, while a Georgia lawmaker recently filed a resolution to impeach Ms. Willis, alleging various acts of \u201cmalfeasance, tyrannical partiality, and oppression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accusing Ms. Willis of suffering from \u201cTrump Derangement Syndrome,\u201d State Rep. Charlice Byrd, a Republican, alleged that Ms. Willis used her office not to pursue justice but for political gain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ms. Byrd said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/charlice_byrd\/status\/1750858059633619147?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jan. 26 statement<\/a> that she has introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.ga.gov\/legislation\/66326\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">H.R. 872<\/a>, a resolution to vote on impeachment charges against Ms. Willis.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution calls Ms. Willis\u2019 indictment \u201cthe severest case of gross abuse of discretion\u201d while alleging that the Fulton County DA \u201cgrossly violated\u201d her oath of office, in which she swore to be impartial.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Byrd\u2019s impeachment resolution also accuses Ms. Willis of engaging in an \u201cinappropriate\u201d and \u201cunethical\u201d relationship with Mr. Wade while alleging that she profited from the relationship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are a total of 22 articles of impeachment in the resolution, each an alleged violation of Georgia Code 16-10-1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While the resolution doesn\u2019t go into detail about the allegedly political nature of the prosecution, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/house-republicans-probe-georgias-prosecution-of-trump-decrying-impact-on-free-speech-and-elections-5480010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">similar claims<\/a> have been made by House investigators.<\/p>\n<p>The Georgia Senate adopted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.ga.gov\/api\/legislation\/document\/20232024\/221458\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resolution<\/a> in a Jan. 26 floor vote that establishes a committee to investigate the various misconduct allegations against Ms. Willis.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged misconduct includes ongoing expenditure of \u201csignificant public funds for the purpose of hiring a special assistant district attorney with whom District Attorney Willis had, and may yet have an ongoing romantic relationship,\u201d the Senate resolution reads.<\/p>\n<p>If such a relationship were proven to exist, it would amount to a \u201cclear conflict of interest and a fraud upon the taxpayers of Fulton County and the State of Georgia,\u201d potentially leading to Ms. Willis\u2019 recusal, delays in the trial against President Trump, the appointment of a special prosecutor, and disciplinary actions, per the resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Willis\u2019 office did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>In prior remarks regarding the scandal, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/fulton-county-da-speaks-out-after-allegation-of-improper-romantic-relationship-5565999\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she suggested<\/a> racism was the motivation behind the scrutiny.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>      <span class=\"field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden\"><a title=\"View user profile.\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/users\/tyler-durden\" class=\"username\">Tyler Durden<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden\">Thu, 02\/01\/2024 &#8211;
