This Is The Way: Fired ‘Mandalorian’ Star Sues Disney, Lucasfilm After Elon Musk Offer<\/span><\/p>\n

In February of 2021, two stars of Disney’s The Mandalorian<\/em> made Nazi and Holocaust analogies<\/strong> in political statements.<\/p>\n

Lucasfilm, owned by Disney, fired one of them<\/strong>. And now she’s suing.<\/p>\n

Gina Carano, Pedro Pascal<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

In the first instance, Mandalorian <\/em>star Pedro Pascal<\/strong> made a now-deleted Instagram post<\/a> likening Trump supporters losing the 2020 election to the Confederacy and Nazi Germany losing in 1865 and 1945. <\/strong>In 2018, Pascal compared Jews in a Nazi concentration camp to ‘children in cages<\/a>‘ (using a 2010 photo<\/a> of Palestinian children waiting to be fed at a soup kitchen<\/em>).<\/p>\n

In the second instance<\/strong>, actress Gina Carano, who played former Rebel Alliance soldier Cara Dune – was fired from the show and dropped by her agency<\/strong> after she shared a TikTok post<\/a> comparing the current divided political climate to the treatment of Jewish people in pre-WWII Germany, saying that “the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.”<\/p>\n

According to the Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, Lucasfilm had planned on giving Carano her own show before she expressed her opinions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Carano also drew criticism fro the left for mocking pronouns, putting “boop\/bop\/beep” in her Twitter bio.<\/p>\n

Now, Carano is suing…<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a Tuesday post on X<\/a>, Carano laid out what happened, and why she’s suing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After my 20 years of building a career from scratch<\/strong>, and during the regime of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Lucasfilm made this statement on Twitter, terminating me from The Mandalorian: \u201cGina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm & there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural & religious identities are abhorrent & unacceptable<\/strong>.\u201d

Nothing could be further from the truth. <\/strong>The truth is I was being hunted down from everything I posted to every post I liked because I was not in line with the acceptable narrative of the time. My words were consistently twisted to demonize & dehumanize me as an alt right wing extremist.<\/strong> It was a bullying smear campaign aimed at silencing, destroying & making an example out of me. <\/em><\/p>\n

Look at why I was called a transphobe–for making droid noises from Star Wars? \u201cBeep, bop, boop\u201d was obviously directed to the online bullies and did not in any way denigrate transgender people.<\/strong>

\nWere my questions about masks, lockdowns & forced vaccines ok to ask & push the subject into the light?<\/strong> Should we have been allowed to publicly discuss those topics at that time without being harassed or censored? Absolutely.<\/em><\/p>\n

Carano goes on to explain that “A couple months ago <\/span>@ElonMusk<\/a> <\/span>tweeted that if you had been fired from using the platform (X) for exercising your right to free speech, he would like to offer these people legal representation.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Some time later, Carino received an email from a lawyer hired by X to explore her case.<\/p>\n

Carano then thanked Musk and X, and says she would love to keep acting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Can\u2019t wait to see the discovery on this one. It will be the motherlode!<\/p>\n
