London Overground Gets ‘Woke Rebrand’<\/span><\/p>\n

Transport for London said it wanted to give the lines, which were previously unnamed, \u201cdistinct identities\u201d in order to help commuters navigate the network.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe services will become known as the Lioness line; the Mildmay line; the Windrush line; the Weaver line; the Suffragette line; and the Liberty line,\u201d <\/em><\/strong>reports the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The names were partly chosen to reflect London\u2019s \u201ccultural diversity,\u201d <\/strong>according to TfL.<\/p>\n

Reaction was swift.<\/p>\n

After Birmingham City Council invited members of the public to come up with new street names for a regeneration scheme, winners included \u201cDiversity Grove\u201d and \u201cEquality Road\u201d.<\/p>\n
