{"id":1458696,"date":"2024-02-22T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T13:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1458696"},"modified":"2024-02-22T08:30:00","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T13:30:00","slug":"pakistan-mulls-completion-of-iran-gas-pipeline-stalled-by-us-sanctions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/pakistan-mulls-completion-of-iran-gas-pipeline-stalled-by-us-sanctions\/1458696\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan Mulls Completion Of Iran Gas Pipeline Stalled By US Sanctions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Pakistan Mulls Completion Of Iran Gas Pipeline Stalled By US Sanctions<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thecradle.co\/articles\/pakistan-mulls-completion-of-iran-pipeline-stalled-by-us-sanctions\"><em>Via The Cradle<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pakistan is mulling over completing a much-delayed pipeline project with Iran, which has been <a href=\"https:\/\/thecradle.co\/articles-id\/1107\">stalled for years<\/a> and has <strong>failed to move forward due to\u00a0US sanctions<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Islamabad is considering finalizing the first phase of the 80-kilometer pipeline, according to Pakistani news site\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nation.com.pk\/19-Feb-2024\/pakistan-to-start-construction-on-80-km-portion-of-iran-pakistan-gas-pipeline\">The Nation<\/a>. &#8220;Islamabad is contemplating to kick-off construction work on the 80 kilometers portion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project\u2026 to escape a potential penalty of $18 billion,&#8221; the report said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/iranpakpipeline.jpg?itok=VHlFSzs7\"><em>Associated Press<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Pakistan will submit an application to<strong> seek a waiver of US sanctions for the IP project<\/strong>. Initially, it has been decided that in the first phase of the IP project, work on the 80 km portion from the Pak\u2013Iran border to Gwadar will be started,&#8221; a source in the Pakistani energy ministry told the outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The project, which aims to <strong>connect the Pakistani port city of Gwadar to the Iranian border<\/strong>, was launched in 2013.
