{"id":1459260,"date":"2024-02-25T21:20:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T02:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1459260"},"modified":"2024-02-25T21:20:00","modified_gmt":"2024-02-26T02:20:00","slug":"what-is-a-christian-nationalist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/what-is-a-christian-nationalist\/1459260\/","title":{"rendered":"What Is A Christian Nationalist?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">What Is A Christian Nationalist?<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/blog\/2024\/02\/what_is_a_christian_nationalist.html\"><em>Authored by John Leonard via AmericanThinker.com,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On MSNBC \u201caward-winning investigative journalist\u201d (from Politico)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/god-given-rights-are-christian-nationalist-heidi-przybyla-says.html\">Heidi Przybyla<\/a>\u00a0said this recently:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Remember when Trump ran in 2016?\u00a0\u00a0A lot of the mainline evangelicals wanted nothing to do <\/strong>with the divorced real-estate mogul who cheated on his wife with a porn star and all of that, right?\u00a0\u00a0So what happened was, he was surrounded by this more extremist element.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>You\u2019re going to hear words like Christian Nationalism, like the new apostolic reformation.<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>These are groups that you should get very schooled on because they have a lot of power in Trump\u2019s circle. And the one thing that unites all of them because there\u2019s many different groups orbiting Trump but <strong>the thing that unites them as Christian nationalists \u2014 not Christians by the way, because Christian nationalist is very different \u2014 is that they believe their rights as Americans don\u2019t come from any earthly authority. They don\u2019t come from Congress, they don\u2019t come from the Supreme Court, they come from\u00a0God.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/152047_w_700_320.jpg?itok=r0vsqcDc\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Horrors!\u00a0\u00a0Does this mean that a Christian nationalist believes what the Declaration of Independence said \u2014 that our\u00a0<em>inalienable rights<\/em>\u00a0to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness come not from King George III, but from our Creator?\u00a0\u00a0<em><strong>How does that separate a Christian nationalist from any other ordinary Christian?<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0What is she trying to say?<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Przybyla continued:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>The problem is that they are determining, man \u2014 men \u2014 are determining what God is telling them. And in the past, that so-called natural law &#8230; it\u2019s a pillar of Catholicism, for instance, and has been used for good. In social justice campaigns, Martin Luther King evoked it talking about civil rights. <strong>But now you have an extremist element of conservative Christians who say this applies specifically to issues like abortion, gay marriage, and it\u2019s going much further than that, as you\u2019re seeing for instance in the ruling in Alabama<\/strong>. The judge is connected to a dominionist faction.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So I wanted to pull the more extended clip of this because surely the reporter clarified. But actually, it gets worse. She confuses mainline and mainstream evangelicalism (the former are liberal denominations). And says these Christians want to apply natural law to marriage,\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GTrUIHTKYT\">https:\/\/t.co\/GTrUIHTKYT<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Svl5kewNqi\">pic.twitter.com\/Svl5kewNqi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EWErickson\/status\/1761046517412937977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 23, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Um&#8230;what?\u00a0\u00a0<em><strong>Is Ms. Przybyla trying to say that mainstream Christians support abortion rights and gay marriage, but Christian nationalists do not?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>She was referring to the Alabama Supreme Court, which just ruled that human life begins at conception.\u00a0\u00a0How dare the court agree with basic biology and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acpeds.org\/position-statements\/when-human-life-begins\">American College of Pediatricians<\/a>?\u00a0\u00a0According to a publication by the National Library of Medicine, eighty percent of Americans believe that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/36629778\/\">biologists are the most qualified<\/a>\u00a0group to determine when life begins, and ninety-six percent of biologists affirm the view that life begins at fertilization, yet a portion of the American public still demand the right to legally murder their unborn children.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Does a Christian automatically qualify as some sort of religious zealot simply for opposing abortion?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>What if he doesn\u2019t oppose the \u201cPlan B\u201d pill?\u00a0\u00a0Can a Christian be patriotic without being called a nationalist?\u00a0\u00a0Can a Christian still sing the patriotic anthem \u201cGod Bless America\u201d?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is a Christian nationalist?\u00a0\u00a0We still don\u2019t have a real answer.\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps it would be helpful to break the term down into individual words to understand it better.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you\u2019re a Christian.\u00a0\u00a0Okay, then&#8230;so what is a nationalist?\u00a0\u00a0According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a nationalist is a person who wants his country to be politically independent, or a person who strongly believes that his country is better than others.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Putting the two terms together, we get a follower of Jesus Christ who strongly believes that America is the greatest nation on the face of the Earth.\u00a0\u00a0And\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0the problem?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Oh, wait a minute \u2014 one of the Alabama justices is accused of being a dominionist.\u00a0\u00a0This is, apparently, a person who seeks to create a nation governed by Christians according to their understanding of biblical law.\u00a0\u00a0Is the justice a dominionist because he quoted from the Bible instead of a biology textbook?\u00a0\u00a0Both basically say the same thing on this issue.<\/p>\n<p>Most Christians I know (and I know more than a few through social media) realize that America was founded not as a Christian nation, but as a secular nation founded by Christians with Christian principles.\u00a0\u00a0Muslims, Jews, and atheists alike have been welcome to participate in our secular government that still operates on Christian principles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, the term \u201cChristian nationalist\u201d is meant to be seen as a pejorative.\u00a0\u00a0It is being used to separate the \u201cgood\u201d Christians (those who support abortion and gay marriage) from the bad Christians (actual Christians).\u00a0\u00a0It is a term intended to divide and conquer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The current problem for those attempting to employ the term to accomplish their nefarious goal of turning Christians on one another is that most people don\u2019t seem to know what a Christian nationalist is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/religion\/2022\/10\/27\/in-their-own-words-how-americans-describe-christian-nationalism\/\">Pew research<\/a>, roughly twenty-four percent of the American public had a negative opinion of Christian nationalism and predictably said things like, \u201cIt is a euphemism for racism and antisemitic fascism;
