{"id":1469487,"date":"2024-06-05T12:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T16:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1469487"},"modified":"2024-06-05T12:30:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T16:30:00","slug":"plurality-of-americans-believe-trump-trial-was-politically-motivated-new-poll-finds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/plurality-of-americans-believe-trump-trial-was-politically-motivated-new-poll-finds\/1469487\/","title":{"rendered":"Plurality Of Americans Believe Trump Trial Was Politically Motivated; New Poll Finds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Plurality Of Americans Believe Trump Trial Was Politically Motivated; New Poll Finds<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2024\/06\/04\/poll-plurality-of-americans-believe-trump-trial-was-politically-motivated\/\"><em>Authored by Eric Lundrum via American Greatness,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>A new poll shows that a sizable plurality of the American people believe that the New York trial of former President Donald Trump was a politically-motivated show trial.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/GettyImages-12507710501.jpg?itok=bO08TQwI\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2024\/06\/03\/trump-trial-politically-motivated-poll\/\"><em>Daily Caller<\/em><\/a>\u00a0reports, the ABC News\/Ipsos poll shows that <strong>47% of Americans believe the trial was indeed a political hit job<\/strong>, while 38% say that the trial was legitimate and fair.<\/p>\n<p>On the question of the \u201cguilty\u201d verdict, 50% of respondents believe the verdict was correct; by contrast,<strong> just 27% believe the verdict was wrong,<\/strong> while the remaining 23% said they \u201cdon\u2019t know\u201d what to believe with regards to the verdict.<\/p>\n<p>Among those who claimed to have followed the case closely, 55% say the verdict was correct while 35% say it was incorrect; another 8% said they \u201cdon\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>After the verdict was announced, 49% of respondents said that Trump should end his campaign for re-election. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Among partisan lines, just 16% of Republicans said Trump should drop out while 75% want him to continue his candidacy. Among Democrats, 79% want Trump to drop out now, while 52% of independents say the same thing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The same poll also showed that the trial and its outcome have had virtually no effect on Trump\u2019s approval ratings, and may have even led to a slight increase.<\/strong> While the former president had a 29% favorability in March, his favorability currently sits at 31%. Biden\u2019s favorability is at 32%, a slight decrease from 33% in March.<\/p>\n<p>The poll featured a sample size of 781 American adults, and was conducted from May 31st to June 1st.
