Sebastian Hotz, an employee of German state television ZDF who regularly appears on Jan B\u00f6hmermann\u2019s \u201cZDF-Magazin Royale\u201d under the name \u201cEl Hotzo,\u201d has expressed regret that Donald\u00a0Trump did not die<\/a>\u00a0in the assassination attempt.<\/p>\n

On X, where the 28-year-old has 694,000 followers, he wrote: \u201cI think it\u2019s absolutely fantastic when fascists die.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

High-profile media lawyer Joachim Steinh\u00f6fel shared the post and wrote:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the ugly, fascist grimace of B\u00f6hmermann\u2019s accomplices. The people that ZDF has allowed to act without restraint for far too long. Celebrating an assassination attempt, regretting that it was unsuccessful. When does that have what consequences?\u201d (\u2018Culling Nazis\u2019)\u201d<\/strong><\/em> he asked.<\/p>\n

Bundestag Vice President Wolfgang Kubicki (FDP) was appalled by the article and described it as \u201cpublic approval of serious crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

He assumed that the public prosecutor\u2019s office would deal with the matter.<\/p>\n

ZDF has remained silent<\/h2>\n

ZDF has not yet commented on the hate speech.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For years, the broadcaster, which is financed via compulsory fees, has repeatedly backed B\u00f6hmermann, even when he recently compared political opponents to infected pigs and called on them to \u201ccull Nazis.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sebastian Hotz was awarded the Bavarian Cabaret Prize last year. This is awarded by Bayerischer Rundfunk, among others. Following numerous protests, \u201cEl Hotzo\u201d has since deleted his post on X about the assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate.<\/strong><\/p>\n
