{"id":1479451,"date":"2024-07-25T17:05:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-25T21:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1479451"},"modified":"2024-07-25T17:05:00","modified_gmt":"2024-07-25T21:05:00","slug":"newsom-issues-eo-for-california-cities-to-remove-homeless-encampments-after-supreme-court-ruling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/newsom-issues-eo-for-california-cities-to-remove-homeless-encampments-after-supreme-court-ruling\/1479451\/","title":{"rendered":"Newsom Issues EO For California Cities To Remove Homeless Encampments After Supreme Court Ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Newsom Issues EO For California Cities To Remove Homeless Encampments After Supreme Court Ruling<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>After years of encouraging rampant crime and degeneracy among the homeless population, and just in time for an election talking point, <strong>California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order on Thursday for the removal of homeless encampments across the state. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/AP24053801341493_jpg.jpg?itok=WbutB6_s\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The order directs state agencies to remove thousands of tents and makeshift shelters along freeways, shopping center parking lots, and city parks &#8211; and puts the decision in the hands of local authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom&#8217;s EO comes after a decision by the Supreme Court earlier this summer which allows cities to enforce bans on sleeping outside in public spaces, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/california-homeless-encampment-newsom-7d4478801de6e9f8a708c7c7c6ef3e5f?taid=66a26df8bd16720001c9b053&amp;utm_campaign=TrueAnthem&amp;utm_medium=AP&amp;utm_source=Twitter\"><em>AP<\/em><\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p><em>The case was the most significant on the issue to come before the high court in decades and comes as cities across the country have wrestled with the politically complicated issue of how to deal with a rising number of people without a permanent place to live and public frustration over related health and safety issues.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>We must act with urgency to address dangerous encampments<\/strong>,&#8221; Newsom said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court&#8217;s decision is related to a lower court&#8217;s ruling on a case known as Grants Pass, which blocked cities from clearing encampments.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week we noted that <strong>San Francisco has already taken steps<\/strong> to craft policies which allow officials to begin sweeping encampments, according to Mayor London Breed.
