New Evidence Refutes FBI Testimony That Trump Shooter Is Far-Right, Anti-Immigrant<\/span><\/p>\n

A top FBI official made a point of testifying that President Trump\u2019s would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks may have espoused far-right extremist viewpoints on an unnamed social media account five years ago, but forgot to mention that Crooks may have shared pro-Biden viewpoints on Gab more recently.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Both accounts have not yet been fully verified as belonging to Crooks.<\/p>\n

FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate told senators on Capitol Hill Tuesday that a social media account believed to be Crooks\u2019 appears to have shared antisemitic, anti-immigrant, and\u00a0 \u201cextreme in nature\u201d posts in 2019 and 2020. Crooks would have been 14 to 15-years-old in that time frame.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were over 700 comments posted from this account,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> Abbate testified before a joint Senate Judiciary Committee and Homeland Security Committee hearing entitled \u201cExamination of the Security Failures Leading to the Assassination Attempt on Former President Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of these comments, if ultimately attributable to the shooter, appear to reflect antisemitic and anti-immigration themes to espouse political violence and are described as extreme in nature,\u201d <\/strong><\/em>Abbate added.<\/p>\n

The deputy director said while the FBI was still verifying that the account belonged to Crooks, the Bureau felt it was important to detail the social account\u2019s nature because of the \u201cgeneral absence of other information\u201d establishing Crooks\u2019 \u201cmotive and mindset.\u201d<\/p>\n

GAB CEO Andrew Torba, however, shared plenty of information\u00a0on X last week<\/a>\u00a0about a GAB account the FBI appeared to believe was Crook\u2019s, saying the content of the posts \u201cUNEQUIVOCALLY\u201d reflected\u00a0 a \u201cpro-Biden and in particular pro-Biden immigration policy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Gab founder said on July 24, he received an Emergency Disclosure Request (EDR) from the FBI for the Gab account \u201cEpicMicrowave,\u201d and said based on the request, the FBI appeared to believe the account was associated with Crooks.<\/p>\n

Torba said \u201cas a courtesy to enforcement,\u201d he would not post the contents of the entire request on social media, but did post the first page on X.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Torba said he was unable to confirm that the account in question, which posted a total of nine times on the site, actually belonged to Crooks. The account appeared to only be active for a short period of time in January and February of 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as we are aware, the account did not use the site to send any direct messages,\u201d <\/strong><\/em>Torba wrote on X.<\/p>\n

The majority of\u00a0EpicMicrowave\u2019s posts<\/a>\u00a0supported Joe Biden\u2019s policies, particularly, his COVID lockdowns, border policies and executive orders. \u201cTo the best of Gab\u2019s knowledge, as of 2021, Crooks was a pro-lockdown, pro-immigration, left-wing Joe Biden supporter,\u201d Torba said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are disclosing this information at significant personal and business risk,\u201d <\/strong><\/em>Torba wrote on X when he posted the epicMicrowave comments last week. \u201cIf the past is any guide, defying the D.C. consensus by publishing the first definitive evidence that the shooter was a Biden supporter \u2013 something Democrats and their media allies have tried to cover up and deny at every turn \u2013 has a high probability of resulting in significant political and media backlash.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later during the hearing Tuesday, Senator Marsha Blackburn\u00a0asked<\/a>\u00a0Abbate about the Gab account.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand that the Gab account is pro-immigration, pro-lockdown, leftist views. Is that correct?\u201d <\/strong><\/em>Blackburn asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t seen it directly but I believe, from what I\u2019ve been told, that is accurate,\u201d Abbate conceded, while noting that the FBI is still working to verify whether the Gab account was Crooks\u2019 as well.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBut it does have differing points of view it would appear,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> Abbate said, without explaining why he had made a point of highlighting Crooks\u2019 earlier alleged leanings.<\/p>\n

Following the hearing, Blackburn told reporters that the deputy director had mentioned one account that painted Crooks as an anti-immigrant and anti-Semitic individual.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was an earlier social media account. We still don\u2019t know the platform or the user name,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> Blackburn noted.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Abbate has a reputation of being a Democrat partisan who crushes dissent within the Bureau.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In June of 2023, an FBI whistleblower came forward to accuse Abbate of improper intimidation.<\/p>\n

According to an\u00a0Empower Oversight affidavit,<\/a>\u00a0Abbate threatened agency employees concerned about the bureau\u2019s overblown response to the Jan. 6 shortly after his appointment in February 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During a secure video conference, Abbate allegedly called on agency staff with concerns about the bureau\u2019s draconian approach\u00a0 to meet with him personally so he could, in the whistleblower\u2019s words, \u201cset them straight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have witnessed hundreds of Director [Secure Video Teleconference]s and have never seen a direct threat like that any other time,\u201d the whistleblower said in the affidavit. \u201cIt was chilling and personal, communicating clearly that there would be consequences for anyone that questioned his direction.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
