Lifestyle, dietary habits, socioeconomic status, access to healthcare, and physical activity levels all contribute to these regional differences.<\/p>\n<p>This map, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualcapitalist.com\/mapped-u-s-obesity-rates-by-state\/\">via Visual Capitalist&#8217;s Kayla Zhu, <\/a>shows obesity rates in 2022 in each U.S. state and territory. Obesity is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) equal to or greater than 30.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Obesity_by_States.jpg?itok=tJ-H8IvZ\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>The figures come from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/obesity\/php\/data-research\/adult-obesity-prevalence-maps.html\">CDC<\/a>) and are updated as of September 2023.
