Data for Saudi Arabia is not available.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Brazil Leading in Renewable Energy<\/h2>\n<p>The global average for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualcapitalist.com\/sp\/visualized-renewable-energy-capacity-through-time-2000-2023\/\">renewable electricity<\/a>\u00a0is 30%, but nearly half of the G20 countries fall below this average.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil leads the G20 in renewable electricity, with 89% of its power generated from renewables in 2023. The country\u2019s high share of renewables is due to its robust hydroelectric base and rapid expansion of solar and wind energy.<\/p>\n<p>Canada, in second place, generates 66% of its electricity from renewables, primarily hydropower.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2024-08-24_11-36-15.jpg?itok=NIdcOPWp\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Germany, in third place, has the highest proportion of wind and solar in its energy mix.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>G20 Economies Past the Peak of Fossil Power<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The majority of G20 economies are at least five years past their peak power sector emissions.<\/p>\n<p>At the top of our list, Brazil\u2019s power sector emissions peaked in 2014 at 114 million tonnes of CO2 (MtCO2).
