The information presented here is also current to July 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Europe Takes Its Vacation Time Seriously<\/h2>\n<p>The top 10 countries with the most paid time off are all found in\u00a0<strong>Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As it happens, all EU member states are required by law to ensure a minimum of 20 days (four weeks) off in their labor codes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2024-08-24_13-00-39.jpg?itok=zF6cR8F9\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, several EU member states go above and beyond, adding in extra days off than the mandatory minimum.<\/p>\n<p>These include Luxembourg (26 days), Finland, France, and Sweden, Austria, and Denmark (all 25 days).<\/p>\n<p>Many of these countries prioritize leave in the summer especially, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.responsiblevacation.com\/vacations\/finland-summer\/travel-guide\/where-to-go-in-finland-in-summer\">families leave the city<\/a>\u00a0to spend time outdoors.<\/p>\n<h2>U.S., China, and Japan\u2019s Paid Time Off Policies<\/h2>\n<p>Noticeably missing from this list are several major economies: including the U.S., China, Germany, Japan, India and the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Both\u00a0<strong>Germany<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0<strong>UK<\/strong>\u00a0have a listed minimum of 20 work days off (the UK also has eight bank holidays not included in this dataset).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Japan<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>India<\/strong>\u00a0both have roughly 10-14 work days off (14-18 calendar days). In Japan, this can go up with every year of work at the company. Both countries\u2014India especially\u2014have several public holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0<strong>China<\/strong>\u00a0has one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vacationtracker.io\/leave-laws\/asia\/china\/\">lowest in the world<\/a>, at five mandatory days off, which doubles after 10 years of work.
