“Due To Popular Demand”: Tesla Announces\u00a0Full Self-Driving Coming To China, Europe In Early 2025<\/span><\/p>\n

Tesla shares outperformed this week after Tesla AI,\u00a0an affiliate of Tesla, wrote on X<\/a> that its\u00a0Full Self-Driving (FSD) advanced driver assistance software will be rolled out across\u00a0China and Europe in the first quarter of 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tesla AI said pending FSD rollouts in China and Europe are “due to popular demand,”<\/strong> adding\u00a0that regulatory approval will first be needed to push the over-the-air update in both regions. The update would enable drivers to activate the advanced driver assistance software.<\/p>\n

In July, CEO Elon Musk said FSD regulatory approval for both regions was likely achievable by the end of the year. He said on Thursday that FSD could be launched in right-hand drive markets sometime in the first half of next year.<\/p>\n

In April,\u00a0Beijing gave Tesla the ‘green light<\/a>‘ to roll out FSD and\u00a0partner with\u00a0Chinese tech giant Baidu for mapping and\u00a0navigation software.\u00a0Tesla has satisfied multiple data security and privacy requirements to operate in the world’s largest EV market.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0approval in April came just days after Musk\u00a0unexpectedly visited Beijing<\/a> and met with\u00a0Premier Li Qiang,\u00a0who was previously the Communist Party chief in Shanghai when Tesla was setting up its\u00a0automobile manufacturing plant there.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also in April,\u00a0Wedbush Securities senior analyst Dan Ives told Bloomberg TV that Musk’s visit to China was a major “watershed moment.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This could open up FSD in China, which I view as unlocking what really could be the golden opportunity for them,” Ives said.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

At the time, Bloomberg reported that Musk’s move to seek FSD approval in China was to stem Tesla’s revenue slump.<\/p>\n
