Today, Mr. President, we stand with you,\u201d FOP President Patrick Yoes said at the group\u2019s meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sept. 6.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cWe have your back, and we\u2019re committed to work tirelessly for your election.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The national FOP has endorsed candidates from both major political parties over the years but has favored Trump during all three of his presidential runs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20%289%29_5.jpg?itok=yq1k9s81\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After Yoes introduced Trump, the Republican presidential nominee drew frequent applause from the FOP as he described steps he intends to take to bolster police, pursue stricter penalties for serious crimes, and crack down on illegal immigration.<\/p>\n<p>Because Harris is a former California prosecutor and Trump is awaiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/judge-merchan-delays-trump-sentencing-until-after-november-election-5719292\">sentencing Nov. 26<\/a> for business-records offenses in a controversial New York case, some of her supporters have characterized the race as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/10MMStronger\">\u201cthe prosecutor versus the felon.\u201d<\/a> Following the FOP endorsement, the Republican Party was branding the former president and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Paduch\/status\/1832122948234125482\">\u201cThe Pro-Police Ticket.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The 377,000-member FOP joins the International Union of Police Associations, the National Association of Police Organizations, and \u201cnumerous local, state, and police advocacy groups\u201d in endorsing Trump rather than his opponent, <\/strong>Trump campaign senior adviser Bob Paduchik told reporters during a pre-announcement phone call.<\/p>\n<h2>How Union Decided Endorsement<\/h2>\n<p>Based on votes from all 46 of its state lodges, the FOP chose Trump instead of Harris after considering policy positions of both candidates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trump met with an FOP committee, \u201cbut no similar meeting was granted\u201d by Harris\u2019 campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.nucleusfiles.com\/12\/12f828b2-4ec2-40c8-85e7-a392baca3ca0\/file_7930.pdf?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=ncl_amplify&amp;utm_campaign=240906-fraternal_order_of_police_endorses_president_donald_j_trump&amp;utm_content=ncl-ATRWkYSEN5&amp;_nlid=ATRWkYSEN5&amp;_nhids=9Ml1SevN\">the FOP said in a news release.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition, Trump answered a questionnaire from the FOP, while Harris\u2019 campaign responded with a letter \u201cdescribing some of their positions on criminal justice and police labor issues,\u201d the FOP said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Since Aug. 6, when Harris announced she had selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, the Harris-Walz team has given few specifics about their policy positions. <\/strong>The pair also have largely ignored reporters\u2019 questions at campaign stops and have given no formal news conferences.<\/p>\n<p>During that timeframe, the Trump-Vance team has given dozens of interviews and held numerous news conferences.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20%2810%29_5.jpg?itok=Gcv3J1Ab\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. AP Photo\/Alex Brandon<\/em><\/p>\n<p>FOP president Yoes lauded Trump for his \u201ctrue, genuine commitment to advancing policing in this country&#8230; at a time when it wasn\u2019t a political battleground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He commended Trump for championing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/prisoners-helped-by-first-step-act-turn-their-lives-around-3500667\">a historic criminal justice reform policy<\/a> and countering efforts to \u201cdefund the police.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Attendees of the FOP meeting greeted Trump with a standing ovation as he began a 50-minute speech.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cAmerica\u2019s cities are under siege,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> he said, noting that <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/milwaukee-police-shooting-wounded-cb87cff01e9ee2f43c62ea396706c13c\">a trio of police officers suffered gunshot wounds in Milwaukee<\/a> on the eve of the FOP meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Trump blames policies that he said allow illegal immigration, decreased funding for police, prosecution of police officers for doing their jobs, and misplaced enforcement and prosecution efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said that people like him are targeted for alleging election improprieties while violent criminal suspects are allowed to be released for low or no bond, and many avoid meaningful punishment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This creates a climate in which \u201cthe law-abiding citizen is forced to live in fear and in danger,\u201d<\/strong> he said, adding, \u201cWe don\u2019t have to live this way&#8230;and when I\u2019m president of the United States, we\u2019re not gonna take it anymore.\u201d The crowd responded with another standing ovation.<\/p>\n<h2>Crime Pledges<\/h2>\n<p>If he wins reelection, Trump pledged to take numerous anti-crime, pro-police measures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He called for a return to \u201cproven crime-fighting methods,\u201d such as allowing officers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/stop_and_frisk\">stop-and-frisk<\/a> people suspected of crimes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump also cited principles of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/broken-windows-theory\">\u201cbroken-windows theory,\u201d<\/a> the notion that eliminating disorder and blight in neighborhoods may improve the overall environment and discourage crime.<\/p>\n<p>Federal authorities under Trump would work with local agencies to form a task force \u201cto dismantle the gangs, street crews and criminal networks,\u201d he said, adding that he would deploy the U.S. Navy for \u201ca full blockade on [drug] cartel activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump also said he would support \u201cmandatory minimum sentences of 20 years for illegal alien gang members caught committing gun crimes, drug-trafficking crimes, or acts of violence\u2014or we\u2019ll send them back to their country with the assurance that they\u2019ll be put in prison.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20%2811%29_5.jpg?itok=lADKFGfx\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>More than 1,000 illegal immigrants wait in line to be processed by U.S. Border Patrol agents after crossing the Rio Grande from Mexico in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Dec. 18, 2023.
