Ohio Congressman Max Miller (R) was confronted by a journalist asking whether he would debate his congressional challenger \u2014 and his district\u2019s predecessor \u2014 Dennis Kucinich,<\/strong> who penned a letter<\/a> on ZeroHedge calling on Miller to debate him. The letter was published in June and sent directly to Miller\u2019s staff. They confirmed receipt but did not accept nor decline the debate.<\/p>\n

At Capitol Hill on Tuesday, a journalist with The Grayzone asked Rep. Miller about his unanswered challenge from the Hon. Kucinich, but Miller dodged, said \u201chave a good one\u201d, and briskly walked away.<\/strong> Watch below:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve done twenty townhalls\u2026 I believe that is the debate itself<\/strong>,\u201d Miller said. \u201cThe fact that you\u2019re here asking me this question I think is funny. Dennis should go out there and speak to the people of the 7th.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding to Miller\u2019s comments, Kucinich told ZeroHedge: \u201cSince the start of the campaign earlier this year, I\u2019ve had over 180 appearances at events and meetings in the district. I\u2019ve always been someone who loves meeting people, and if elected, that\u2019s the sort of congressman I\u2019ll be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miller takes the hawkish hardline on national security, having voted<\/a> in favor of the most recent Ukraine supplemental bill (which allotted several billion for Taiwan and Israel too) and being among the minority of Republicans who <\/strong>voted against<\/strong><\/a> the Biggs-FISA amendment for that bill, which would have prevented \u201cwarrantless searches on Americans\u201d. The amendment failed in a tie (212\u2013212), meaning one member could have changed the outcome.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Miller also called for Gaza to be turned into a \u201cparking lot\u201d at the start of the Gaza conflict:<\/p>\n

In his letter challenging Miller to debate, Kucinich made these issues a sticking point. He wrote: \u201c<\/strong>The escalating wars in the Middle East and Europe threaten to plunge us into the abyss of World War 3. In this critical moment in our nation’s history, it is our duty to engage in open and honest discourse about the path forward.<\/strong>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kucinich ran for president in 2004 as a staunch opponent of the Iraq War \u2014 introducing 35 articles of impeachment<\/a> against former President George Bush \u2014 and later criticized<\/a> former President Barack Obama following the 2011 military intervention in Libya.<\/p>\n
