Portugal Is The Best Country For Wine Tourism<\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to wine tourism, not all destinations are created equal. <\/strong><\/p>\n

That is, according to Bounce\u2019s\u00a0Wine Lover\u2019s Index 2023<\/a>. Based on five indicators \u2013\u00a0wine consumption<\/a>\u00a0in the country, wine production in the country, vineyard area (as a percent of the country), number of tours and tastings, and average cost of a bottle \u2013 the index ranks the best destinations for wine and wine tourism.<\/p>\n

As Statista’s Anna Fleck shows in the following chart<\/a>, in 2023, Portugal topped the list as the world\u2019s best location for\u00a0wine<\/a>\u00a0tourism with a score of 8.83\/10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In second place is Moldova<\/strong>, and while this may seem surprising, the small Eastern European country has a long history of winemaking.<\/p>\n

In fact, its total vineyard area represents almost 2 percent of the world\u2019s total. In third and fourth place came Italy and Spain, respectively, followed by Georgia and France.<\/p>\n

Of the top ten countries, only two are not in Europe<\/strong>, New Zealand (8th) and Chile (10th).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
