Matt Taibbi<\/a> and Walter Kirn<\/a> gave gave must-watch speeches last weekend at the ‘Rescue The Republic’ rally in Washington D.C. – which was organized to promote free speech and the 8 pillars<\/strong> of ‘Join the Resistance.<\/a>‘<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Taibbi torched the establishment, starting with John Kerry – who recently said<\/a> he wants the First Amendment “hammered out of existence” so the elites can control information.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Taibbi also went full Les Grossman<\/a> on the ‘anti-disinformation’ dickheads <\/strong>from the censorship industrial complex…<\/p>\n

Let me pause to say something about America\u2019s current intellectual class, from which the \u201canti-disinformation\u201d complex comes. By the way: there are no working-class censors, poor censors, hungry censors. The dirty secret of \u201ccontent moderation\u201d everywhere is that it\u2019s a tiny sliver of the educated rich correcting everyone else<\/strong>. It\u2019s telling people what fork to use, but you can get a degree in it. –Matt Taibbi<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

But while “the Michael Haydens, John Brennans, James Clappers, Mike McFauls and Rick Stengels who make up America\u2019s self-appointed behavior police” keep trying to censor, they’re on “a fool’s errand.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

But “Motherfucker, I\u2019m an American. That shit does not work on me<\/strong>. And how can you impugn my patriotism, when you\u2019re sitting in Klaus Schwab\u2019s lap, apologizing for the First Amendment to a crowd of Europeans? Look in the mirror.”<\/p>\n

Novelist Walter Kirn also spoke at the event<\/strong>, telling “a little bedtime story” about his childhood in rural Minnesota – “the land of the deplorables,” that can best be summarized by the man himself via Racket News<\/em><\/a> <\/em>(emphasis ours)<\/em>;<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

When I was a kid in rural Minnesota, the land of the deplorables in the late sixties and early seventies, my mother had a little record player. The problem was, she only had five records, and all were protest music. <\/span>Pete Seeger<\/a>, <\/span>the Weavers<\/a>, <\/span>Joan Baez<\/a>, <\/span>Peter, Paul, and Mary<\/a>. I used to listen to the records, and I had a favorite song. Maybe you know it: \u201cIf I had a Hammer.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It was very strange that my mother had these records, because she was a young Republican.<\/strong> Anyway, I was eight years old, and I had no idea what this song meant. It seemed to have something to do with being powerless, and dreaming or fantasizing that you had power. <\/span>If I had a hammer, I\u2019d hammer out justice. I\u2019d hammer out freedom all over this land. I\u2019d hammer out love between the brothers and the sisters\u2026<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n

That was my favorite line, because it was so puzzling. Isn\u2019t love between brothers and sisters incest? As I said, I found this song confusing, and the thing that confused me most about the song was: Why didn\u2019t the singer have a hammer? What had happened? Who\u2019d taken it away?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This morning, I was reading Twitter and I was reminded of this song in the most unlikely way. I saw a <\/span>clip of a discussion<\/a> at one of those big international conferences that you and I are never invited to, and on this video was John Kerry, former Secretary of State, former Skull and Bonesman, that secret society at Yale \u2014 the same secret society that George W. Bush belonged to<\/strong>. The guy who ran against John Kerry for president in 2004: <\/span>Skull and Bones versus Skull and Bones<\/a>. Talk about the illusion of choice. <\/span><\/p>\n

Anyway, what Kerry was talking about was the First Amendment, and how it was a problem. A big, big problem. He had a peculiar complaint about it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The First Amendment stopped people like him, he said, from trying to \u201cbuild consensus.\u201d <\/strong>Now, that\u2019s how these people think about themselves, as builders of consensus. What does that make you and me? We\u2019re construction materials!<\/p>\n

John Kerry, master builder, had a complaint. <\/strong>The First Amendment, he said, was a \u201cmajor block\u201d for people like him from stopping what he now calls disinformation. It kept him from, he said, \u201chammering it out of existence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, I\u2019m pretty sure that <\/span>in 1949<\/a> when Pete Seeger wrote, \u201cThe Hammer Song,\u201d or \u201cIf I Had a Hammer,\u201d he didn\u2019t mean if <\/span>John Kerry<\/em> had a hammer. He didn\u2019t mean if <\/span>they<\/em> had a hammer: <\/span><\/p>\n

If they had a hammer, <\/em><\/p>\n

They\u2019d hammer out disinformation. <\/em><\/p>\n

They\u2019d hammer out vaccine hesitancy, <\/em><\/p>\n

All over this land. <\/em><\/p>\n

They\u2019d hammer out Kennedy. <\/em><\/p>\n

They\u2019d hammer Matt Taibbi\u2026. <\/em><\/p>\n

That is not the song, and John Kerry has it wrong. The hammer does not belong to him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That hammer belongs to us. It\u2019s ours.<\/strong> But why don\u2019t we have it? That\u2019s the mystery.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the question I\u2019ve spent a lifetime trying to figure out. Look at this gray hair. It\u2019s been a lifetime. Why doesn\u2019t the singer have a hammer? Why? Why do we have to dream to fantasize? Why do we have to wish we had one?<\/p>\n

Well, I think I\u2019ve finally answered it. We have it right in front of us. The question is, will we pick it up? The question is, will we use it?<\/strong> So, I have a request for you. When you go home tonight, when you get home, pick up your hammer. Pick up your hammer and use it. It\u2019s time to build.<\/p>\n

My mother had one other record. It was by Simon and Garfunkel. It also had a song I loved called El Condor Pasa. I think you remember its greatest line: \u201cI\u2019d rather be a hammer than a nail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be a nail. Pick up your hammers. Go home. Let\u2019s build a New America.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
