{"id":1498580,"date":"2024-10-25T18:40:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-25T22:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1498580"},"modified":"2024-10-25T18:40:00","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T22:40:00","slug":"nyse-extending-trading-on-arca-equities-exchange-to-22-hours-a-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/nyse-extending-trading-on-arca-equities-exchange-to-22-hours-a-day\/1498580\/","title":{"rendered":"NYSE Extending Trading On ARCA Equities Exchange To 22 Hours A Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">NYSE Extending Trading On ARCA Equities Exchange To 22 Hours A Day<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><em>So much for Robinhood having a monopoly on overnight trading&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The New York Stock Exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20241025235193\/en\/The-New-York-Stock-Exchange-Plans-to-Extend-Weekday-Trading-on-its-NYSE-Arca-Equities-Exchange-to-22-Hours-a-Day\">said in a press release today<\/a> that it plans on extending weekday trading on its NYSE ARCA Equities Exchange to 22 hours a day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;NYSE Group\u2019s NYSE Arca is a fully electronic exchange that ranks as the top U.S. exchange for listing and trading exchange-traded funds,&#8221; the release notes. &#8220;All U.S.-listed stocks, ETFs and closed-end funds would be available for trading on NYSE Arca during the 22-hour weekday sessions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;The extended trading would take place from 1:30 am to 11:30 pm Eastern Time on all weekdays, excluding holidays, subject to regulatory approval,&#8221;<\/strong> the release says, noting that the NYSE will &#8220;also seek support for extended trading from the U.S. securities information processors&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/overnight.jpg?itok=5Mp01t75\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kevin Tyrrell, Head of Markets, New York Stock Exchange, said in the release:\u00a0\u201cThe NYSE\u2019s initiative to extend U.S. equity trading to 22 hours a day, 5 days a week underscores the strength of our U.S. capital markets and growing demand for our listed securities around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cAs the steward of the U.S. capital markets, the NYSE is pleased to lead the way in enabling exchange-based trading for our U.S.-listed companies and funds to investors in time zones across the globe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Trades taking place on NYSE Arca during these additional extended hours will continue to be cleared by the Depository Trust &amp; Clearing Corporation, which recently announced plans to extend its hours of operation,&#8221; the release concludes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-10-25\/nyse-to-extend-trading-to-22-hours-a-day-on-arca-exchange?sref=6uww027M\">noted<\/a> this morning, the New York Stock Exchange reignited the 24\/7 trading debate in April by polling industry participants.
