The survey consisted of 24,471 adults across 36 countries, conducted between October and November, 2022.<\/em><\/p>\n

Where E.T.\u2019s Existence Would be Most Accepted<\/h2>\n

India<\/strong>,\u00a0Saudi Arabia<\/strong>, and the\u00a0UAE<\/strong>\u00a0had the highest share of respondents who believe an alien visit would be likely.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to ascertain any one reason these three countries believe in aliens so strongly. It may be due to rich mythologies where the acceptance of various gods, djinn, and other magical beings translates into acceptance of alien life.<\/p>\n

There might also be a religious element at play. Ongoing discussions about what the Quran states about\u00a0other forms of life<\/a>, except for humans, have generated interest on the internet.<\/p>\n

It could also be an effect of mass media: the Star Wars movies, for example, were\u00a0very popular<\/a>\u00a0in India.<\/p>\n

However, the same influence for some countries clearly doesn\u2019t work for others. The\u00a0U.S.<\/strong>, home to Hollywood\u2014which seems to release at least one movie about aliens a year\u2014sits firmly middle of the pack.<\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s\u00a0Japan<\/strong>, where only 8% of those surveyed believed a visit was likely.<\/p>\n

This is somewhat surprising, given the country\u2019s strong technological advancements and fascination with futuristic themes in popular culture.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 Do Aliens Exist?<\/h2>\n

NASA has said that so far, no credible evidence exists for extraterrestrial life. And despite multiple \u201cstrange light sightings,\u201d over the years, the Department of Defense\u2019s\u00a0most recent report<\/a>\u00a0states there\u2019s no \u201cverifiable evidence\u201d that all the \u201cunidentified anomalous phenomena\u201d (a new term for UFOs) actually represents alien life.<\/p>\n

However, as a\u00a0case study for probability<\/a>, the odds of humans being the only advanced civilization in the whole universe is one in ten billion trillion. Or really, really, small.<\/p>\n

So, purely mathematically, the chances of alien life existing are likely.<\/p>\n

Now whether they\u2019d visit\u2014is another question entirely.<\/p>\n
