The deal comes after the Biden administration <strong>failed to ink a normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Barak Ravid of\u00a0Axios\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/11\/04\/us-saudi-arabia-security-deal-israel\">reported<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday that &#8220;the US and Saudi Arabia are discussing a possible security agreement that <strong>wouldn\u2019t <\/strong>involve a broader deal with Israel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/biden%20mbs%20fist%20bump.jpg?itok=F5kqvSMO\"><em>Via CNN<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The agreement wouldn&#8217;t be the full defense treaty the U.S. and Saudi Arabia were discussing but Saudi Crown Prince\u00a0Mohammed Bin Salman\u00a0(MBS) and the White House <strong>still want to reach a security agreement before President Biden leaves office<\/strong> in January,&#8221; the report continues.<\/p>\n<p>As a candidate, Biden ran on a platform of holding the Gulf Kingdom responsible for the killing of\u00a0Washington Post\u00a0journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the Saudi slaughter in Yemen that claimed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2021\/11\/23\/un-says-yemen-war-death-toll-will-reach-377000-by-end-of-2021\/\">around 400,000 lives<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While the Biden administration announced some restrictions on weapon sales to Saudi Arabia, which were later lifted, top US officials <strong>sought to expand the Donald Trump-era Abraham Accords with Riyadh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Accords are a series of agreements where the US promised arms and other benefits to Muslim nations that normalized their relationship with Israel.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel and Tel Aviv\u2019s onslaught in Gaza, Washington was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/libertarianinstitute.org\/news\/netanyahu-and-mbs-suggest-progress-is-being-made-on-us-brokered-normalization-deal\/\">nearing a pact<\/a>\u00a0with Tel Aviv and Riyadh that would see Saudi Arabia <strong>receive weapons, a mutual defense treaty, and nuclear technology from the US<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli genocide against Gaza has made any deal impossible. Over the past year, the White House has sought to expand the Israel-Saudi normalization pact to include the rebuilding of Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2024\/10\/28\/gaza-ceasefire-talks-resume-in-qatar-but-progress-not-expected\/#gsc.tab=0\">refused any ceasefire in Gaza<\/a>, scuttling the changes of any deal with the Kingdom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s unclear why the Biden administration would seek to strengthen bilateral security ties with Riyadh with the president\u2019s short time left in office<\/strong>. Saudi Arabia has an abysmal human rights record.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Donald <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Trump?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Trump<\/a>, who has emerged triumphant in the US presidential election, is likely to \u201cdouble down\u201d on the Abraham Accords, and \u201cwill probably continue to support <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Netanyahu?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Netanyahu<\/a> in his fights in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Gaza?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Gaza<\/a> and in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Lebanon?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Lebanon<\/a> and probably in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Syria?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Syria<\/a> without allowing him to go into a\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LfTlPh5mPl\">pic.twitter.com\/LfTlPh5mPl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Al Arabiya English (@AlArabiya_Eng) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlArabiya_Eng\/status\/1854162246819033595?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 6, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Biden has been so far unable to get a deal done between Israel and Saudi Arabia, Beijing was able to broker an agreement between Tehran and Riyadh.
