{"id":1501219,"date":"2024-11-08T16:15:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T21:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1501219"},"modified":"2024-11-08T16:15:00","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T21:15:00","slug":"political-polarization-relatively-strong-in-the-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/political-polarization-relatively-strong-in-the-us\/1501219\/","title":{"rendered":"Political Polarization Relatively Strong In The US"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Political Polarization Relatively Strong In The US<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>The share of people who consider themselves on the far left or far right of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/4378\/media-and-politics-in-the-us\/\">political spectrum<\/a>\u00a0is particularly high in the United States.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/33419\/rating-of-political-stance-ci\/\">This is the result of a survey by Statista Consumer Insights. <\/a><strong>11 percent of U.S. respondents said they saw themselves on the far left (0 out of 10 points) and 19 percent on the far right (10 out of 10 points).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/33419\/rating-of-political-stance-ci\/\" title=\"Infographic: Political Polarization Relatively Strong in the U.S. | Statista\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>You will find more infographics at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chartoftheday\/\">Statista<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>By comparison,<strong> only 6 percent of Germans place themselves on the far left and only 7 percent on the far right.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the country, being centrist is also much more common at 24 percent, opposite the U.S.&#8217; 18 percent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In France, centrism was the least pronounced at 14 percent, while 9 percent saw themselves most on the left and a whopping 17 percent most on the right. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While a similar amount of French people and Americans rated themselves as on the right and on the left, positions to the very far left and the very far right were relatively stronger in the U.S., with France a little behind. Attitudes in the United Kingdom resembled Germany more, with an additional uptick on the very right thrown in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Despite the polarization, Americans are less likely to identify with Republicans or Democrats.<\/strong> In the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/11901\/2024-us-presidential-election\/\">2024 U.S. election<\/a>, Independents for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/first-us-independent-turnout-tops-democrats-ties-republicans-edison-research-2024-11-06\/\">first time tied as the biggest group<\/a>\u00a0of voters with Republicans. One explanation for this trend could be the loss of trust in democratic institutions by the American public.
