Disney Abandons Transgender Storyline In New Pixar Show<\/span><\/p>\n

Disney has decided to abandon plans to have a transgender storyline in its\u00a0upcoming animated series\u00a0Win or Lose.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The show, which centres around characters on a\u00a0co-ed middle school softball team, was originally scheduled to feature a transgender character.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>\u00a0notes that\u00a0while the character will remain in the show, all references to its transgender identity have been removed.<\/p>\n

A Disney spokesperson told the outlet\u00a0\u201cWhen it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.\u201d<\/p>\n

The report notes that the decision was made several months ago, but the company has not provided any further details.<\/p>\n

The decision comes following backlash directed at several recent Disney productions that have pushed similar themes and flopped.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
