{"id":1531438,"date":"2025-04-20T23:50:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-21T03:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1531438"},"modified":"2025-04-20T23:50:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-21T03:50:00","slug":"aclu-sues-trump-admin-over-revocation-of-international-student-visas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/aclu-sues-trump-admin-over-revocation-of-international-student-visas\/1531438\/","title":{"rendered":"ACLU Sues Trump Admin Over Revocation Of International Student Visas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">ACLU Sues Trump Admin Over Revocation Of International Student Visas<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us\/aclu-sues-trump-admin-over-revocation-of-international-student-visas-5844676?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_campaign=ZeroHedge\"><em>Authored by Jacob Burg via The Epoch Times,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Four American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) affiliates filed a lawsuit on April 18 asking a federal court to reinstate the legal status of international students who have had their visas revoked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20%2888%29_5.jpg?itok=OypBxtmn\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Multiple ACLU affiliates and the law firm Shaheen &amp; Gordon filed a federal class action <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riaclu.org\/en\/cases\/pasula-v-department-homeland-security\">lawsuit<\/a> representing more than 100 foreign students in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico who <strong>they say had their F-1 student immigration status \u201cunlawfully and abruptly terminated with no specified reason as to why.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The students include several at Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, who had their student status revoked in recent weeks. The lawsuit asks the court to reinstate their F-1 student status, which would allow them to continue their studies.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cInternational students are a vital community in our state\u2019s universities, and no administration should be allowed to circumvent the law to unilaterally strip students of status, disrupt their studies, and put them at risk of deportation,\u201d <\/strong><\/em>Gilles Bissonnette, legal director of the ACLU of New Hampshire, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riaclu.org\/en\/news\/aclu-files-class-action-lawsuit-challenging-terminated-student-status-students-new-hampshire\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Several students have already sued, arguing they were denied due process.
