The change was first seen on the company&#8217;s\u00a0Chinese social media, Weibo, and it had over 22 million views.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Screenshot%202025-04-23%20at%208.47.48%E2%80%AFAM.jpg?itok=dRh5RJ_d\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Global Times said the technical changes were industry-wide:<\/p>\n<p><em>Under updated guidelines from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), <\/em><strong><em>several major Chinese automakers have adjusted their technical labeling since April<\/em><\/strong><em>. In the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, XPeng rebranded its driver-assistance technology as &#8220;AI-assisted driving&#8221; and announced plans to launch the industry&#8217;s first &#8220;AI Driving Safety Boot Camp,&#8221; focusing on clarifying system limitations and demonstrating new features through enhanced user training, according to the Economic Observer&#8217;s report.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Meanwhile, Horizon Robotics named its newly released Level 2 (L2) driver-assistance system the &#8220;Urban Driver-Assistance System&#8221;; at Huawei&#8217;s Qiankun booth, all descriptions of technologies such as &#8220;smart driving&#8221; and &#8220;automatic parking&#8221; have been revised to &#8220;Intelligent Driver Assistance&#8221; and &#8220;Intelligent Parking Assistance&#8221;, according to China Media Group (CMG) &#8216;s report.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of April, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/xiaomi-shares-slide-after-su7-sedan-intelligent-assisted-driving-crashes-three-dead\">horrific crash<\/a> involved an\u00a0SU7,\u00a0which claimed three lives on the\u00a0Dezhou-Shangrao Expressway in\u00a0Tongling in\u00a0southern Anhui Province, eastern China. There has been mounting speculation that the\u00a0driver assistance system was engaged during the crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2025-04-01_07-24-45.png?itok=NvkQn7N_\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Overly optimistic terms like &#8216;fully autonomous&#8217; created dangerous gaps between consumer expectations and technological realities<\/strong>,&#8221;\u00a0Wu Shuocheng, a veteran automobile industry analyst, told the state-run media outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shuocheng said,\u00a0&#8220;<strong>Standardized labeling helps reset public understanding<\/strong>,&#8221; adding, &#8220;<strong>These changes reflect China&#8217;s balanced approach to fostering innovation while prioritizing safety.
