MCAT Developers Still Promote DEI Despite Public Scrutiny; Report<\/span><\/p>\n

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), which develops and administers the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), was believed to have left DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) behind until\u00a0The Daily Wire<\/em>\u00a0published an article stating otherwise.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The AAMC was exposed for continued DEI efforts after a scrutinizing\u00a0report<\/a>\u00a0from the nonprofit\u00a0Do No Harm<\/a>, which stated that the group works \u201cto create, promote, and ingrain philosophies that are rooted in controversial belief systems instead of established science.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

However,\u00a0The Daily Wire<\/em><\/a>\u00a0received information from an \u201cAAMC insider\u201d who says that the organization is using unorthodox measures to further its DEI agenda, despite recent changes.<\/p>\n

An internal \u201cLanguage Suggestions\u201d document provided by\u00a0The Daily Wire<\/em>\u00a0reveals that the medical association continues to promote DEI by telling employees to \u201c[C]hoose language that defines and translates diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into actionable steps that promote the AAMC\u2019s mission.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

It also tells employees to use clarifying language that it believes \u201care widely misunderstood or misinterpreted.\u201d Examples include \u201cbirthing people,\u201d \u201cAnti-racism,\u201d \u201cMinority\u201d and \u201cDEI.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally,\u00a0The Daily Wire<\/em>\u00a0reports that employees are introduced to \u201cReframing the Conversation\u201d so that in order to \u201ccommunicate the impacts of these efforts more effectively,\u201d they should \u201cfocus on the positive outcomes they bring, aligning them with our mission and work.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The AAMC states that \u201c[b]y emphasizing the broader benefits, we can better illustrate how these initiatives contribute to our shared goals and long-term success.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the insider, \u201cthe AAMC has pushed DEI for about a decade. The leaders are not going to change their views overnight\u2026Even though we now talk about it differently, the AAMC is still very much committed to DEI.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In its report, Do No Harm revealed that tens of millions of dollars were donated to the AAMC in order to promote initiatives such as \u201cgender-affirming care\u201d and \u201csystemic inequities,\u201d embedding these kinds of goals into medical school accreditation and testing.<\/p>\n

Most significantly, the biggest benefactor has been the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which contributed more than $24,000,000 for a program called \u201cConfronting Structural Racism to Transform Health.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the release of the report, the AAMC began to delete certain messages and resources dedicated towards expanding and promoting DEI across its network.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The AAMC deleted a\u00a0page<\/a>\u00a0titled \u201cDiversity, Equity, and Inclusion,\u201d <\/strong>which was\u00a0archived<\/a>, along with the \u201cUnderrepresented in Medicine Definition,\u201d also\u00a0archived<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a web page capture of a previous AAMC\u00a0report<\/a>, \u201cCreating Action to Eliminate Racism in Medical Education,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> has also been\u00a0removed<\/a>.<\/p>\n
