{"id":1536228,"date":"2025-05-15T15:01:01","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T19:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1536228"},"modified":"2025-05-15T15:01:01","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T19:01:01","slug":"is-soft-survey-data-about-to-explode-higher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/is-soft-survey-data-about-to-explode-higher\/1536228\/","title":{"rendered":"Is &#8216;Soft&#8217; Survey Data About To Explode Higher?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Is &#8216;Soft&#8217; Survey Data About To Explode Higher?<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>For all the<strong> terrified FUD being spread that &#8216;soft&#8217; sentiment surveys<\/strong> are the real deal and &#8216;hard&#8217; data is simply not reflecting the terrible Trump-tariff-driven economic chaos&#8230; yet&#8230; it appears the establishment economists may have to rethink their ideas as &#8211; just like in Q2 2023 &#8211; &#8216;soft&#8217; survey data is starting to reverse higher as &#8216;hard&#8217; data refuses to bend the knee to the terror&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/bfm866D_0.jpg?itok=JKNRxgh9\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Source: Bloomberg<\/p>\n<p>The jump this morning was driven by a shocking (to some) surge in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philadelphiafed.org\/surveys-and-data\/regional-economic-analysis\/mbos-2025-05\">Philly Fed Business Outlook Survey<\/a> which surged from -26.4 to -4.0 (considerably better than the -11.0 expected). <strong>Even more notably, the 6 months-ahead business conditions index rose by 40.3pt to +47.2.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/bfm3A00.jpg?itok=mHLWZOD1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The composition of the report was mixed, as the <strong>employment (+16.3pt to +16.5) and new orders (+41.7pt to +7.5) components both increased<\/strong> while the shipments component declined (-3.9pt to -13.0).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>prices paid (+8.8pt to +59.8) and prices received (+12.9pt to +43.6) measures both increased&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/bfmFCDE.jpg?itok=cG3Wc6sH\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And looking our six months, Prices Paid are expected to decline modestly while New Orders and Employment expectations surged&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/bfm3885.jpg?itok=f2hYnBxZ\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Did we just pass peak pessimism?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>As Bloomberg reports, aggregating survey components using a method similar to the ISM Manufacturing PMI, both<strong> indexes rose and pointed toward expansion in May.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The New York index rose to 51.1 from 49.3, and the Philadelphia index rose to 51.2 from 45.3. <strong>That suggests the ISM manufacturing PMI will likely rise in May, from April\u2019s low base.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Will the whining establishment elites fall back to the old &#8220;just wait and see&#8221; argument&#8230; or some &#8220;transitory&#8221; argument for why suddenly optimism appears to peeking out from behind the dark cloud?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>      <span class=\"field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden\"><a title=\"View user profile.\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/users\/tyler-durden\" class=\"username\">Tyler Durden<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden\">Thu, 05\/15\/2025 &#8211; 11:01<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/economics\/soft-survey-data-about-explode-higher\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/economics\/soft-survey-data-about-explode-higher<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is &#8216;Soft&#8217; Survey Data About To Explode Higher?
