{"id":1537461,"date":"2025-05-22T09:45:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T13:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1537461"},"modified":"2025-05-22T09:45:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T13:45:00","slug":"which-nationalities-overstay-their-us-visas-the-most","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/which-nationalities-overstay-their-us-visas-the-most\/1537461\/","title":{"rendered":"Which Nationalities Overstay Their US Visas The Most?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Which Nationalities Overstay Their US Visas The Most?<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security annually releases\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-10\/24_1011_CBP-Entry-Exit-Overstay-Report-FY23-Data.pdf\">figures on people who overstay their visas and other legal forms of admissions in the United States<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Total overstays for the fiscal year of 2023 stood at 510,400 people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/9550\/foreign-citizens-who-overstayed-us-visas-in-2016\/\">As Statista&#8217;s Katharina Buchholkz reports,<\/a><strong> <\/strong><strong>African nations led in terms of overstayers in comparison to total visitors, with some rates hinting at 30-50 percent who don&#8217;t return.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/9550\/foreign-citizens-who-overstayed-us-visas-in-2016\/\" title=\"Infographic: Which Nationalities Overstay Their U.S. Visas? | Statista\"><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>You will find more infographics at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chartoftheday\/\">Statista<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>High shares of overstayers also came from Haiti, Myanmar and Laos as well as Yemen, Bhutan and Turkmenistan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latin Americans were less likely to overstay their<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/760\/united-states\/\">\u00a0U.S.\u00a0<\/a>visas in relative terms, with Venezuelans the biggest overstayers at 9.3 percent of admissions<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, as Latin Americans are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/805\/immigration-migration\/\">entering the United States<\/a>\u00a0with visas in higher numbers, their overstayers form the biggest group in total.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In FY 2023, this pertained to around 52,000 Mexicans, 43,000 Colombians and almost 22,000 Dominicans and Brazilians each.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>In relative terms, Mexicans only overstayed their visas 1.7 percent of the time. <\/strong>This was even lower for Indians, the seventh biggest group in absolute terms, at 1.4 percent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>      <span class=\"field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden\"><a title=\"View user profile.\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/users\/tyler-durden\" class=\"username\">Tyler Durden<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden\">Thu, 05\/22\/2025 &#8211; 05:45<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/which-nationalities-overstay-their-us-visas-most\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/geopolitical\/which-nationalities-overstay-their-us-visas-most<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which Nationalities Overstay Their US Visas The Most?
