{"id":1539332,"date":"2025-06-02T00:25:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T04:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1539332"},"modified":"2025-06-02T00:25:00","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T04:25:00","slug":"trump-admin-shuts-down-massive-66-million-food-stamp-fraud-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/trump-admin-shuts-down-massive-66-million-food-stamp-fraud-scheme\/1539332\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Admin Shuts Down Massive $66 Million Food Stamp Fraud Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Trump Admin Shuts Down Massive $66 Million Food Stamp Fraud Scheme<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>A U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) employee and five others have been arrested for allegedly defrauding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) of more than $66 million in unauthorized transactions, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/media\/trump-agency-uncovers-one-largest-food-stamp-fraud-bribery-schemes\">according to Fox Business<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins called it \u201cone of the largest stings\u201d in USDA history, emphasizing, \u201cAt USDA, we are hyper-focused\u2026 on rooting out that waste, fraud and abuse.\u201d She added, \u201cThis is a new day, and President Trump promised&#8230; that it would not be the government that we know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defendants \u2014 Michael Kehoe, Mohamad Nawafleh, Omar Alrawashdeh, Gamal Obaid, Emad Alrawashdeh, and USDA employee Arlasa Davis \u2014 face charges of \u201cconspiracy to steal government funds and to misappropriate U.S. Department of Agriculture benefits,\u201d according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Screenshot%202025-05-31%20at%208.56.06%E2%80%AFAM.jpg?itok=0YKfGWOb\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fox Business News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/media\/trump-agency-uncovers-one-largest-food-stamp-fraud-bribery-schemes\">writes<\/a> that the scheme, which began in 2019, allegedly involved Kehoe supplying 160 unauthorized electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards to stores across the New York area, enabling over $30 million in fraudulent transactions.
