{"id":1540921,"date":"2025-06-10T16:05:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T20:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1540921"},"modified":"2025-06-10T16:05:00","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T20:05:00","slug":"trump-admin-investigates-university-of-wyoming-for-allowing-males-to-join-sorority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/trump-admin-investigates-university-of-wyoming-for-allowing-males-to-join-sorority\/1540921\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Admin Investigates University Of Wyoming For Allowing Males To Join Sorority"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Trump Admin Investigates University Of Wyoming For Allowing Males To Join Sorority<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article\/trump-admin-investigates-university-of-wyoming-for-allowing-male-to-join-sorority\/28037\"><em>Authored by Emily Sturge via Campus Reform,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Trump administration is investigating the University of Wyoming (UW) for allowing a male to join a women\u2019s sorority, an alleged violation of Title IX.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/eyJidWNrZXQiOiJjYW1wdXMucmVmb3Jt%20%281%29_3.jpg?itok=6Z2F8jnm\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On June 2, the Department of Education\u2019s Office for Civil Rights\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/about\/news\/press-release\/us-department-of-education-recognizes-june-title-ix-month\">launched<\/a>\u00a0the probe into UW regarding the incident, but the university asserts it was not involved in the decision to induct the male member and is therefore not in violation of federal law.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cThe university\u2019s position has been that it doesn\u2019t control decisions about sorority and fraternity membership \u2026 The university believes it has been and is in compliance with Title IX,\u201d <\/strong><\/em>UW spokesperson Chad Baldwin told\u00a0<em>Campus Reform<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, the Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) chapter at UW became the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article\/watch-schwerha-we-watching-downfall-womens-integrity\/20500\"><strong>first<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0women\u2019s sorority to welcome a male member when it allowed 21-year-old Artemis Langford to join.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Langford was permitted to access sorority housing,<\/strong> an alleged violation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article\/trump-admin-investigates-university-of-wyoming-for-allowing-male-to-join-sorority\/designated%20female-only%20intimate%20and%20communal%20spaces\">Title IX<\/a>\u00a0protections for designated female-only intimate and communal spaces.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>He was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article\/peeping-trans-student-stay-sorority-judge-dismisses-lawsuit\/23910\">accused<\/a>\u00a0by women of inappropriate behavior,<\/strong> such as silently sitting in common spaces in the sorority house and watching them while having \u201can erection visible through his leggings.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The incident spurred into a three-year-legal battle, ongoing today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite the university claiming it wasn\u2019t involved in the decision to induct Langford, the Department of Education contends that the university is still ultimately responsible to uphold Title IX.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cA school receiving federal funding that supports, sponsors, or promotes a sorority or fraternity, must meet its obligations under Title IX to protect its students from sex-based harassment and sexual assault, regardless of the sorority or fraternity\u2019s policy,\u201d <\/strong><\/em>a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/about\/news\/press-release\/us-department-of-education-recognizes-june-title-ix-month\">press release<\/a>\u00a0from the department states.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>UW KKG members who previously sued the sorority are celebrating the administration\u2019s investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am incredibly grateful that this administration will shed light on everything that has happened to me and my sisters. How lucky are we to have a president and administration that actually cares about women and girls,\u201d UW alumna Allie Coghan, a plaintiff in the lawsuit and an Independent Women sorority ambassador, stated in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iwf.org\/2025\/06\/02\/department-of-education-launches-investigation-into-university-of-wyoming-after-male-student-joined-kappa-kappa-gamma-sorority-and-violated-female-sisters-privacy-and-dignity\/\">press release<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cWe hope this case will bring clarity, accountability, and justice not only for us, but for all college sorority women going forward,\u201d <\/strong>said UW senior Maddie Ramar, also a plaintiff in the lawsuit and an Independent Women sorority ambassador.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In 2023, six members of the chapter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article\/sorority-members-sue-subjected-leering-foot-fetishist-transgender-sister-house-\/23160\"><strong>sued<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0the sorority, but the case was dismissed by a federal judge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a 41-page\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wyofile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/judge-dismisses-KKG-case.pdf\">decision<\/a>, U.S. District Court Judge Alan B.
