{"id":1541021,"date":"2025-06-10T22:05:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T02:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1541021"},"modified":"2025-06-10T22:05:00","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T02:05:00","slug":"nearly-8000-killed-in-syria-within-six-months-monitor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/nearly-8000-killed-in-syria-within-six-months-monitor\/1541021\/","title":{"rendered":"Nearly 8,000 Killed In Syria Within Six Months: Monitor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Nearly 8,000 Killed In Syria Within Six Months: Monitor<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thecradle.co\/articles\/nearly-8000-killed-in-syria-within-six-months-75-percent-civilians-report\"><em>Via The Cradle<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At least 7,670 people, mainly civilians, have been killed in Syria since the fall of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad\u2019s government and the establishment of a new transitional authority, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented in a new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rudaw.net\/english\/middleeast\/syria\/080620252\">report<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the war monitor, the number includes <strong>more than 2,130 \u201cextrajudicial executions\u201d and \u201cidentity-based killings.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0It warned of a \u201cpattern of organized violence\u201d across the country.\u00a0The SOHR report documents \u201cthe killing of 7,670 people across Syria from 8 December 2024 to 6 June 2025,\u201d adding that among those killed are <strong>\u201c5,784 civilians, including 306 children and 422 women.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/syriaburning.jpg?itok=9_cvw6VA\"><em>Via Reuters<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>SOHR warned that \u201cthis grim toll is a result of ongoing violence and violations by local and external parties, alongside widespread security chaos,\u201d which reflects \u201cthe fragility of the security situation and the increasing danger to the most vulnerable constituents of society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The over 2,130 executions were <strong>\u201ccommitted in brutal ways.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In March this year, Syrian government forces carried out a series of brutal massacres targeting Alawite civilians on the Syrian coast. Damascus said it would launch a probe, the results of which have not been made clear. SOHR says \u201c1,726 liquidations\u201d were recorded during the March massacres against Alawites.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unofficial estimates at the time said the <strong>number could be way higher, possibly several thousand<\/strong>. The killings were carried out in response to an armed uprising against security forces launched by elements of the former government\u2019s armed forces.<\/p>\n<p>The UK-based monitor went on to say that since the collapse of the Assad government, 1,886 non-civilian combatants have been killed, including 496 members of the Syrian Defense and Interior Ministries. Additionally, 627 members of various armed factions, many linked to the new authorities in Damascus, were also among those killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over 250 members of the US-backed Kurdish militia, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), have been killed as well, according to SOHR. SOHR notes that <strong>75 percent of all the deaths are civilians<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new Syrian army is dominated by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS),<strong> a former Al-Qaeda branch with a history of war crimes and violent, sectarian ideology<\/strong>. Several other extremist factions, including notorious groups such as Jaish al-Islam, have been incorporated into Damascus\u2019s forces as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alawites continue to be targeted by Syria\u2019s military and groups under its command. In the last five days, at least 18 Alawites have been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.al-akhbar.com\/news\/syria-s-alawites-targeted-again-amid-rising-violence\">killed<\/a>\u00a0in a new wave of violence targeting the minority group.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the country faces a widespread Israeli occupation and regular\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thecradle.co\/articles\/israel-bombs-south-syria-as-war-chief-repeats-threat-of-indefinite-occupation-from-mount-hermon\">bombardment<\/a>. The new SOHR report comes as Syria is being pulled out of years of isolation \u2013 with the US, UK, and EU taking steps to lift the sanctions on the country, which had been imposed for 14 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Julani&#8217;s terror army is distributing flyers in rural villages of western Homs that say:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are coming to slaughter you, O Alawites.
