On Dec. 6, 2016\u2014just weeks after President Donald Trump\u2019s election\u2014then-outgoing President Barack Obama ordered the probe, concluding Vladimir\u202fPutin \u201caspired\u201d to sway the vote.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, according to the declassified 2025 review, Brennan, Comey and Clapper rushed the 2016 assessment in a \u201cchaotic,\u201d \u201catypical\u201d and \u201cmarkedly unconventional\u201d fashion, raising questions about a \u201cpotential political motive.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The review found intelligence officials felt \u201cjammed\u201d by the rushed timeline, with many seeing the draft report for the first time at the sole in-person review on December 19.<\/p>\n

One CIA author called it \u201cunusual\u201d that so few changes were made to such a lengthy and high-profile assessment.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This rushed assessment ultimately cast doubt on Trump\u2019s legitimacy and opened the door to the Mueller investigation, partisan congressional\u00a0hearings, and countless media leaks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
