‘Global War on Terror’ Is Over. Terror Won.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Sept. 16, 2001, five days after the attacks on New York and Washington, DC, President George W. Bush\u00a0declared<\/a>, \u201cThis crusade \u2013 this war on terrorism \u2013 is going to take a while. And the American people must be patient. I\u2019m going to be patient. But I can assure the American people I am determined.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Four days after that, President Bush\u00a0declared<\/a>\u00a0the \u201cwar on terror\u201d to be primarily against al-Qaeda. \u201cOur war on terror begins with al Qaeda,\u201d<\/strong> he said in an address to Congress and the nation, \u201cbut it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated.\u201d<\/p>\n

He described the enemy thus:<\/p>\n

This group and its leader \u2014 a person named Osama bin Laden \u2014 are linked to many other organizations in different countries, including the Egyptian Islamic Jihad and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.\u00a0\u00a0There are thousands of these terrorists in more than 60 countries.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bush was correct in his assessment of the group.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

One of those countries into which al-Qaeda jihadists implanted themselves was Syria, where from 2011 \u2013 with the support of the Obama Administration \u2013 they attempted to overthrow the secular leader, Bashar al-Assad, using terrorist tactics they had been well-trained in<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They soon changed their name \u2013 but not their stripes \u2013 and became the Al-Nusra Front, headed up by an experienced jihadist who fought against US troops in Iraq by the name of Abu Mohammad al-Jolani. His group was known for chopping off heads. Perhaps even American heads.<\/p>\n

Last December Jolani\u2019s jihadists \u2013 with support from the US, Turkey, and Israel \u2013 finally brought down the Assad government and quicker than you can say \u201cWashington PR makeover\u201d he clipped his beard<\/strong>,\u00a0switched out his tactical military watch<\/a>\u00a0for a $90,000 Patek Philippe World Time Chronograph, and declared himself president.<\/p>\n

The \u201ccivilized world\u201d cheered the re-emergence of democracy in Syria!<\/p>\n

At their first meeting earlier this year in Saudi Arabia, President Trump praised jihadist Jolani as \u201ca young, attractive fellow\u201d and \u201ca tough guy, a fighter, with a very strong background. He has a lot of potential, he\u2019s a real leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

This was a\u00a0US-designated global terrorist<\/a>\u00a0with a $10 million bounty placed on his head by the US authorities. His \u201cwanted\u201d poster STILL\u00a0remains on the X account<\/a>\u00a0of the US Embassy in Syria!<\/p>\n

This week, President Trump \u201cremoved sanctions on Jolani\u2019s Syria at (Israeli Prime Minister)\u00a0Netanyahu\u2019s request<\/a>,\u201d and just yesterday Secretary of State removed Jolani\u2019s old al-Qaeda affiliate (which had gone from al-Nusra to HTS over the years) from the US terrorist list.<\/p>\n

As one observer on X\u00a0quipped<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The history of the GWOT (Global War on Terror) began in 2001 with the US invading Afghanistan to dig out Al Qaeda. <\/em>It ends twenty-four years later with the US recognizing an AQ affiliate as the new ruler of Syria.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Brown University\u2019s\u00a0Cost of War Project<\/a>, the \u201cGlobal War on Terror\u201d cost the American people at least eight trillion dollars. It also took the lives of perhaps a million people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And what did we get for all this blood and treasure? In Afghanistan, the Taliban were after 20 years of US military action replaced by the Taliban, and in Syria a fierce opponent of al-Qaeda was replaced by\u2026al-Qaeda!<\/p>\n

As Jake Sullivan, then right hand to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton,\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0to the Secretary in 2012, \u201cal-Qaeda is on our side in Syria.\u201d He wasn\u2019t joking!<\/p>\n

That was the shot\u2026here\u2019s the chaser: In the same week the United States removed sanctions on al-Qaeda ruled Syria, it placed sanctions on\u2026UN\u00a0Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese!<\/p>\n

Who is Albanese? She is the\u00a0fearless defender of human life in a Gaza<\/a>\u00a0where it is slowly being extinguished by Israel with the backing (and weapons) of the US government.<\/p>\n

In hitting UN human rights defender Albanese with sanctions, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio\u00a0wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Today I am imposing sanctions on UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese for her illegitimate and shameful efforts to prompt\u00a0@IntlCrimCourt<\/a>\u00a0action against U.S. and Israeli officials, companies, and executives.<\/p>\n

Albanese\u2019s campaign of political and economic warfare against the United States and Israel will no longer be tolerated. We will always stand by our partners in their right to self-defense.<\/p>\n

The United States will continue to take\u00a0whatever actions we deem necessary<\/strong>\u00a0to respond to lawfare and protect our sovereignty and that of our allies. (emphasis added)<\/p>\n

What might those \u201cwhatever actions\u201d be? Clearly it is a physical threat against Albanese for speaking out against a mass murder happening in real time, observable for all who wish to do so on our own computer screens.<\/p>\n

So that is it. The \u201cGlobal War on Terror\u201d is over. Terrorists have been elevated by the US government to be heads of state<\/strong> and those who speak out against state terrorism are threatened with \u201cwhatever actions we deem necessary\u201d to shut them up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
