{"id":1549731,"date":"2025-07-29T17:45:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T21:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1549731"},"modified":"2025-07-29T17:45:00","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T21:45:00","slug":"corporations-to-acquire-10-of-ether-supply-as-regulatory-arbitrage-accelerates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/corporations-to-acquire-10-of-ether-supply-as-regulatory-arbitrage-accelerates\/1549731\/","title":{"rendered":"Corporations To Acquire 10% Of Ether Supply As Regulatory Arbitrage Accelerates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Corporations To Acquire 10% Of Ether Supply As Regulatory Arbitrage Accelerates<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><strong>Corporations are buying Ether at a faster pace than Bitcoin, <\/strong>signaling a shift in institutional interest toward the world\u2019s second-largest cryptocurrency as it prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary, according to a new report from Standard Chartered.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate cryptocurrency treasury firms have bought up 1% of the total Ether supply since the beginning of June, the bank said in a Tuesday research report.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2025-07-29_07-19-25.jpg?itok=m9BOCtou\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Over the same period, Ether-focused treasury firms have doubled the pace of investments compared to their Bitcoin-focused counterparts, helping ETH outperform Bitcoin\u2019s price action, the report said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/bfmEBE0_0.jpg?itok=urRT_pZ7\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/corporations-acquired-1-ether-supply-standard-chartered\">As CoinTelegraph&#8217;s Zoltan Vardai reports, <\/a>StanChart attributed some of Ether\u2019s recent price strength to this accumulation trend and the performance of spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs), writing:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cBuying by these companies, along with the best period for ETH ETFs on record, has certainly contributed to those gains.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Standard Chartered added that continued inflows could push ETH above its $4,000 year-end forecast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/01985631-d215-7abf-8cdb-bf795f78.jpg?itok=ZbJzGiNf\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>ETH held by Ethereum treasury companies. Source: Standard Chartered<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Despite the increasing accumulation by corporations and US spot Ether ETFs, <strong>ETH\u2019s price remains over 21% below its all-time high of $4,890 set four years ago in November 2021<\/strong>,\u00a0data shows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/01985639-5e72-76f8-9429-8b147ef2.jpg?itok=2LLC33ab\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Corporations could reach 10% of all ETH<\/h2>\n<p>Ether-focused treasury firms have more growth potential compared to Bitcoin treasury firms from a \u201cregulatory arbitrage perspective,\u201d according to Standard Chartered.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;&#8230;this buying of digital assets by corporates makes sense due to inefficiencies in financial markets, mostly stemming from regulation<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Specifically, restrictions on investor access to the asset class, which remain significant in a large number of jurisdictions, mean that <strong>investors seek alternative vehicles (in this case publicly listed companies) through which to gain exposure to the underlying asset<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As a result, these companies\u2019 market cap tends to trade above the net asset value (NAV) of the assets held, at a so-called positive NAV multiple.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ether treasury firms can \u201ccapture both staking rewards and decentralised finance (DeFi) leverage opportunities, which US Ethereum ETFs currently cannot,\u201d <\/strong>the report said, adding:<\/p>\n<p>At around 3%, staking yield\u00a0is significant&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2025-07-29_07-22-33.jpg?itok=xiGDnqzE\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the Bitcoin treasury space, it took several years for MSTR to spawn significant\u00a0buying by imitators.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>For ETH this is likely to happen more quickly, as the broader concept of corporate holdings of digital assets is already accepted. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Publicly listed Bitcoin mining company, BitMine Immersion Tech (BMNR), is currently the largest Ether treasury firm, holding 0.5% of the circulating ETH supply.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If BMNR can achieve its goal of increasing its ETH holdings to 5% of the total in circulation, then it is <strong>fair to assume that ETH treasury companies as a whole will end up holding more than 10% of all ETH in circulation.
