Delusional Seattle Democrats Blame Trump While Ignoring Their Role In Homelessness Crisis<\/span><\/p>\n

In a recent op-ed, radio host Jason Rantz argues<\/a> that Seattle Democrats outraged by President Donald Trump\u2019s new homelessness executive order are ignoring their own responsibility for the crisis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s order, \u201cEnding Crime and Disorder on America\u2019s Streets,\u201d<\/em> dismantles \u201cHousing First\u201d and \u201cHarm Reduction\u201d strategies, which Rantz calls failed progressive experiments that worsened addiction, street crime, and homelessness. He says local leaders in cities like Seattle and Spokane are \u201cpredictably outraged\u201d because the policy is \u201ca direct rebuke to the failed progressive experiments that have crippled Seattle, Spokane, and other left-wing cities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rantz writes<\/a> that\u00a0Washington Governor Bob Ferguson called the order \u201cmisguided and harmful,\u201d while Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell said it was impractical. Rantz counters that their criticisms are hypocritical, as these leaders presided over a surge in encampments, crime, and drug use.<\/p>\n

He is particularly critical of \u201cHarm Reduction\u201d programs that distribute drug paraphernalia at taxpayer expense, claiming they enable addiction. \u201cIn less than five minutes, I walked away with glass pipes and other fentanyl smoking equipment, no questions asked,\u201d he said of a recent visit to a Seattle facility.<\/p>\n

Rantz also dismisses \u201cHousing First\u201d as ineffective, arguing it ignores root causes like mental illness and substance abuse. He claims the program \u201cmerely relocates the dysfunction indoors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s order ties federal funding to enforcement of laws against public camping, open drug use, and street crime, which Rantz says restores accountability. \u201cWhen we stop normalizing drug addiction and homelessness, we offer real compassion \u2014 access to treatment, mental health services, and genuine rehabilitation programs,\u201d he writes.<\/p>\n

Rantz accuses Democratic leaders of opposing the order to protect their political turf, not vulnerable populations. \u201cThey oppose Trump\u2019s policy because admitting its effectiveness means acknowledging their own spectacular failures,\u201d he argues.<\/p>\n

Calling Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles \u201ccautionary tales of progressive governance gone awry,\u201d Rantz says the executive order is necessary to end harmful policies. \u201cEnding \u2018Housing First\u2019 and \u2018Harm Reduction\u2019 isn\u2019t just necessary; it\u2019s imperative,\u201d he concludes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
