{"id":1555758,"date":"2025-08-16T00:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T04:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/?p=1555758"},"modified":"2025-08-16T00:30:00","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T04:30:00","slug":"fewer-women-are-using-birth-control-pills-in-the-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bugaluu.com\/news\/fewer-women-are-using-birth-control-pills-in-the-us\/1555758\/","title":{"rendered":"Fewer Women Are Using Birth Control Pills In The US"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Fewer Women Are Using Birth Control Pills In The US<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>Fewer women in the United States are opting for birth control pills than before, according to KFF\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/report-section\/contraceptive-experiences-coverage-and-preferences-findings-from-the-2024-kff-womens-health-survey-issue-brief\/\">data<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where 33 percent of women aged 18 to 49 years old said they used oral contraceptives in 2022, that had ticked down to 29 percent in 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/34985\/contraception-choices-of-18-49-year-old-females-in-the-us\/\">As Statista&#8217;s Anna Fleck reports<\/a>, after male condoms, the pill is still the most commonly used form of contraception in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/34985\/contraception-choices-of-18-49-year-old-females-in-the-us\/\" title=\"Infographic: Fewer Women Are Using Birth Control Pills in the U.S. | Statista\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>You will find more infographics at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chartoftheday\/\">Statista<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Recently, there has been a growing number of influencers on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/6077\/tiktok\/\">TikTok<\/a>\u00a0criticizing different forms of hormonal birth control and promoting tracking fertility cycle apps instead.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This goes against\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/08\/11\/nx-s1-5494736\/hormonal-birth-control-side-effects\">experts\u2019 advice<\/a>, which states that contraceptives such as the pill and IUDs are safe and effective and that risks have been exaggerated online.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is a trend that has been seen in other countries too. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The BBC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c93lq2w5n44o\">reports<\/a>\u00a0that in the United Kingdom, some women are moving away from \u201chormonal\u201d products such as the pill to \u201cnatural\u201d fertility tracking apps.<\/p>\n<p>While in Germany,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/fewer-german-women-are-taking-the-pill\/a-50499202\">health concerns<\/a>\u00a0have been cited in recent years, with younger women in particular moving away from the pill.<\/p>\n<p>The KFF reports that almost four in ten (39 percent) of women of reproductive age have heard something on social media about birth control in the past 12 months, including half (49 percent) of women aged 18 to 25.
