Disney\u2019s latest\u00a0cartoon\u00a0misfire, \u201cCaptain Durag,\u201d sparked a firestorm of criticism for allegedly stereotyping black culture\u2014until the black creator stepped forward, promptly defusing the leftist mob\u2019s fury.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The character, a black superhero battling \u201cgrime\u201d in Slime City with a durag as his cape and mask, debuted amid Black History Month on Disney Jr.\u2019s \u201cHey AJ!\u201d and was quickly branded an \u201cabomination\u201d online.<\/p>\n

Social media erupted with complaints like one X user\u2019s post: \u201cThey made a \u2018Captain Durag\u2019 in 2026 what the f\u2013ck Disney.\u201d Another called it \u201cwildly tone deaf.\u201d<\/p>\n

The backlash intensified from within the black community, prompting Disney to yank several clips from YouTube without an official statement.<\/p>\n

But then creator Camille Corbett, a 28-year-old Jamaican-American artist and comedian, defended her work on X, stating \u201cI created the character Durag Man, now known as Captain Durag on the Disney Show, Hey AJ and I\u2019m just finding out people are finding it problematic? I just wanted our culture to have a superhero of its own!\u201d<\/p>\n

Corbett told The New York Post<\/a> that \u201cas a scholar,\u201d she\u2019d \u201cnever speak on anything I\u2019ve never experienced,\u201d urging viewers to actually watch the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey AJ!\u201d creator Martellus Bennett echoed her on Instagram: \u201cIf that offends you, maybe the problem isn\u2019t the durag. Maybe the problem is that you\u2019ve never seen black imagination treated as sacred, heroic and worthy of a cape.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bennett described the character as a reflection of black life, pushing back against detractors who saw it as reducing black identity to caricature.<\/p>\n

Once Corbett\u2019s identity surfaced, the outrage mostly evaporated\u2014exposing the hypocrisy of critics who slam \u201cstereotypes\u201d until ownership aligns with their identity politics playbook.<\/p>\n

Also, if you can\u2019t tell the difference between \u2018heroic\u2019 characteristics and a stereotype, it might be time to examine why that stereotype exists.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it, there are far worse things to criticise Disney for.<\/p>\n

For starters, the company recently\u00a0abandoned a transgender storyline in a new Pixar show<\/a>, backing off after internal pushback exposed their agenda to inject gender ideology into kids\u2019 content.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Elon Musk has directly accused Disney CEO Bob Iger of\u00a0endorsing child sex material<\/a>, amplifying concerns over the company\u2019s tolerance for predatory themes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A few years back,\u00a0Disney announced a new original series for called Pauline in which an 18 year old girl gets impregnated on a\u00a0one-night\u00a0stand then catches feelings for the individual responsible, with that individual being SATAN.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Leave it to Disney to call the birth of the Anti-Christ a \u2018coming of age\u2019 movie.\u201d<\/p>\n
