I\u2019d be angry, too.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump claims JPMorgan and other banks shut his accounts for political reasons, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/03\/02\/dimon-trump-debanking-lawsuit-no-merit-concerns.html\">according to CNBC<\/a>.\u00a0Dimon said banks are often \u201cforced\u201d to debank clients due to legal and regulatory pressures tied to reputational risk. \u201cWe debank people because it causes legal, regulatory risk for us,\u201d he said, noting it\u2019s easier for banks to avoid that risk.<\/p>\n<p>Trump sued JPMorgan and Dimon in January, part of a broader legal campaign that also includes claims against Capital One, media outlets, and the IRS. JPMorgan has acknowledged closing dozens of Trump-related accounts after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I agree with them,\u201d Dimon said during an interview in Miami. <strong>\u201cLike, why is a bank allowed to do that?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/03\/02\/dimon-trump-debanking-lawsuit-no-merit-concerns.html\">writes<\/a> that though no single law mandates dropping clients over reputational concerns, regulations make serving certain customers risky. The case puts Dimon in a delicate spot as banks begin benefiting from deregulation under Trump appointees.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Screenshot%202026-03-03%20at%2009.10.45.jpg?itok=UxiAijce\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a lot of misunderstandings here,\u201d Dimon said. \u201cHopefully the law will change, and hopefully it\u2019ll get sorted out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recall,\u00a0President Donald Trump\u00a0filed a lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase and its CEO Jamie Dimon,\u00a0claiming the banking giant\u00a0debanked him for political reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was filed in January in a Miami state court by his attorney, Alejandro Brito, on behalf of Trump and several of his hospitality companies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The complaint cites JPMorgan&#8217;s code of conduct, which reads: &#8220;We set high expectations and hold ourselves accountable. We do the right thing\u2014not necessarily the easy or expedient thing.
