The Buffalo Bills will visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at Everbank Stadium during the NFL’s wild-card round.
For this battle between Sean McDermott’s Bills (12-5) and Liam Coen’s Jaguars (13-4), it will be the games within the game that will make all the difference.
Here are Bills Wire’s three key matchups to watch during the Bills at Jaguars matchup:
RB James Cook vs. LB Devin Lloyd
The highlighted matchup between the Bills and Jaguars is Buffalo’s No. 1 rushing attack in the NFL and the Jaguars defense, who spot the league’s best run defense.
Cook won the NFL’s rushing title in 2025, meanwhile, Pro Football Focus grades Lloyd as the NFL’s third-best linebacker in 2025 with an overall grade of 89.1. Lloyd will spearhead the Jags’ plan to stop Cook in the middle of Jacksonville’s defense.
TE Dalton Kincaid vs. LB Foyesade Oluokun
It was wide receiver Khalil Shakir (719 yards) who led the Bills offense in receiving this season, not tight end Dalton Kincaid since he was held to 12 games played. However, when Kincaid gets going? Buffalo’s offense and quarterback Josh Allen can get rolling.
Feed Kincaid, it will help Cook too.
DE Greg Rousseau vs. OL Cole Van Lanen
Rousseau led the Bills with seven sacks in 2025. Both Buffalo and Jacksonville averaged 2.4 sacks per game allowed during the 2025 season. That could be another key battle to win of someone wants to walk away with a win.
While PFF grades Rousseau the NFL’s seventh-best edge defender, Van Lanen, the No. 16 offensive tackle, is a tough opponent.
