Latest Packers-Bears weather forecast for Chicago tonight; wind, cold

Will the wind be a factor in the Green Bay PackersNFC wild-card playoff game against the Chicago Bears on Saturday night, Jan. 10?

The latest weather forecast for the 7 p.m. game at Soldier Field in Chicago calls for blustery conditions that include wind gusts from the west between 20 and 30 mph.

Between the wind gusts, dropping wind-chill temperatures throughout the game and the potential for blowing light snow, both teams’ passing and kicking could be affected.

The forecast might even have affected the projected over/under for the game, which has fallen from 46 earlier in the week to 44.5.

Todd Kluber, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Chicago, said Jan. 9 that forecasters are expecting “fairly blustery conditions.”

The temperature will likely be around freezing around kickoff, though Kluber said it’ll feel much colder as the game progresses.

“With the wind and the slightly falling temperatures, [we’re] looking at wind-chill values there in the mid- to upper teens through most of the evening hours,” Kluber said.

While the snow won’t be heavy, Chicago is expecting periods of snow showers that could result in brief accumulation, Kluber said. Less than a half-inch of snow is expected.

With light snow also expected in southeastern Wisconsin, if you’re planning on attending the game, make sure you stay up-to-date with the forecast on the NWS website.
